Have you ever had any problems with the c-media onboard sound card?

The reason I ask is because I had the A7S333 motherboard and I hated the fact that I couldn't run it  on windows 98 or me because it would make a horrible sound when playing Battlefield 1942 and FS2002 and performance would drop. I installed a Sound Blaster 5.1 sound card and it would still have problems with the sound. Are you familiar with any of these issues?

The only issue i've ever had in the last 4 months with the board is that somtimes the sound dos'nt start up with XP. This has only happened twice though.

As can be seen from my test there is a massive frame hit from the sound. A new sound card arrived for me yesterday and it's going in this weekend after Iv'e finished this round of testing .

I will post the results when available.

As a cheep mother board it's a good performer.

I suggest you get the latest SIS graphic drivers rather than the asus ones. at sis.com they work brilliantly for me as you can see from my benchmarks.

Also if your running 333 ddr ram go to the bios and switch the FSB/RAM FREQUENCY  TO 1/1 this runs the ram at 266 mz with a massive performance increase 500 3d marks for me in one step.

I still have that motherboard but I'm no longer using it. I bought a MSI K7N2-L and just by upgrading from Asus A7S333 to the new MSI one I noticed a huge increase of performance. I used to get 9500 or so when using 3dmarks 2001 and A7S333. Now I get around 11220 with the board. However; I still noticed  that using windows ME I still get this wierd Loud noise coming from the speakers which lowers FS2002 Performance to almost 2.5 FPS. In windows xp this does not happen. It performs better. I still disabled the onboard sound and put a SB live 5.1 sound card in there and performance went up not only Fs2002, Also Mafia, BF1942, Morrowind...

I guessing this new motherboards are designed to take advantage of windows xp or 2000.  Or I have really bad luck with older operating systems.

Yes I always now recomend that people move to XP as I was also having loads of problems with ME and video drivers and sound but nothing since XP

Why not sell the board on ebay?
