Use SLEW mode...Press "Y' key and then "F4" to gain altitude...when you're high enough press Y again to go back to flying...

One way is to slew.
hit Y (slew mode) & Q (up) then when you get to your required height (3000AGL may be ideal) hit Y again to disengage slew mode. - now you'll stall so pull pack on the stick as you drop - you'll have gained speed & will be flying!
Enjoy!

Sit on the runway, crank up the winds to a 80kt headwind. That'll get you up 8)
(or you could just slew, as mentioned above..
Off topic, on multiplayer, you can select a player's name by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+t, wait for them to get on a runway, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+f to "hook on" in the glider. WHen they take off, you're following behind, just like real towing, but you gotta hold down CTRL+SHIFT+f.. if it doesn't work on the first try, it may be that these commands aren't set. Go into the Assignments menu, select Multiplayer, and look for those.. This "hook on" feature doesn't work offline and with AI..
But of course, you must have permission, and they must know about it before you "hook on" and fly the glider.
Cool flight: go to SESM in the glider, slew to about 10,000 AGL, and try to land back down
Keep out of IMC in VFR,&&Tim

Rob Barandregt just released a gauge to do it. It simulates a tow.
It uses Slew mode, but does it in a far more visually realistic way than just whipping the glider up there.
Just do a search using his name or the word cable.
