I personally think that CFS4 shall be the pacific theater from 1943-1945+.

They ended CFS2 in 1943 for a reason and I believe that CFS4 was that reason.

I personally want british stuff there. We played a vital part in burma and malaya.

I think we it should be the cold war from 1945-1970. I think Microsoft has done WW2 to death in its CFS series. This cold war version should be dynamic like CFS3, as in you determine the whether the cold war stays cold or turns hot, whether you get nuked or bring an end to the atomic weapons age.
I think it should include the SR-71 blackbird, Avro Vulcan, B-52, CF-105 Arrow, P-80, Grumman F9F, F-86 Saber, F-84 Thunder Jet, MiG jet series up to Fulcrum, de Havilland Vampire, F-101B Voodoo, CF-100, etc.

I'd like to second Orenda.  A cold war/modern flightsim with guided missile technology, radar etc.

I feel that a more "Hot" war scenario would be more appealing than endless combat air patrols with no action possible, but that would be down to personal choice.

I would also like to see a highly detailed WW1 campaign/sim.  I guess there is no commercial interest in this as the US didn't have a vast impact in WW1's aerial war (This is not intended as a slur, it is historical fact Wink).  I think with the technology available considering the limited size of the combat arena the scenery and aircraft could be fantastic without too much of a drain on system resources.

Until the Sim comes out you can re-create the zepplin war by sitting in your freezer doing nothing for four hours.  When you feel you are bored enough ask someone to start shooting at you.  At an appropriate time soak yourself in petrol and catch fire whilst simultaneously jumping from a very high building.

This should simulate things very well indeed.

Seriously though what is it about the zepplins you like so much?

Cause nothing is bigger! A zeppelin makes a AN225 look like a gnat in comparason.

Plus do destroy them you must bomb them! LOL...

It must be fun dropping a couple of incendury bombs on an airbourn Zeppelin at 7000 feet!

The Royal Flying Corps invented the "incendiary bullet" specificaly to counter the zepplin threat.  I think the first time bombs were dropped on enemy bombers was by the Lufftwaffe against the 8th Airforce, but I may  be wrong with that.

That would certainly be a great challenge though!!!

You are wrong. In WWI the Royal Flying Corps had special squadrons for tackling Zeppelins and there armament consisted of a Carbine to pop away at the gas bag a 4 fire bombs. The tactic was to shoot the Zeppelin so that get would hopefully slowdown and loose altitude. Then the fighter would fly over the zeppelin and drop the bombs along its length. This would esure that the Zeppelin was well and truely doomed. This of course was before the days of incendiary bullets.

If MS makes a CFS4 and it is in the Pacific, I'd like to see something for the defense of Austaria, the British were involed so there should be sometthing on that, and Russia did declare war on Japan very late in the war, i think right after the first atomic bomb was dropped.  I may be wrong.  But I know they put planes in combat, so a little somethin' on that would be nice.  If there not gonna do another WWII sim, maybe the air war in Korea.  P-80s, F-84s, and 86s, and Mig-15s, and 17s.  that would be different.  No guided missles, or onboard radar, pilots still needed skill to get on the enemy's six and send him spinnin' down to earth engulfed in flames.

And another cool thing bout makin a Korea sim is that props were also in Korea; F4-U Corsair and P-51(F-51), and the Chinese Yak1 i think. So even the prop fans wont be left empty handed  Wink CFS4 will obviously finish the Pacific theater and maybe even end the WWII-related MS sims....or will it? Grin What id like to see:

CFS4-Pacific theater
CFS5-Korea
CFS6-Vietnam...maybe Cold war

Maybe CFS4 should cover all the theatres of the previous versions in one package. You could fly anywhere in the world, in any theatre depending on where you get posted or how the war is going for your side.

You could fly Fighters, bombers, transports.....or even lysanders and sunderlands etc to pick up your SOE agents and downed pilots in the drink.

It would be a huge one, but would be good I think.

I think cfs4 would be cool if were represented by three battles, the battle of the altantic, giving the fw200 condor, protect u-boots and for allied side kill submarines and ships with bombers.  the afrika korps in north africa and the late days of the war, with stock b17,b24,b25 and heavy air battles like dresden, berlin  etc... also a mission builder, all the stuff of cfs3, nose art, pilot health etc.. and an way or program to you download a plane from the internet and when you go to play online with the plane that you got, all the other players be able to see that plane even if they dont have it downloaded, that would be damn realistic.

I want it to be more like flightsim. Its too easy to fly things in combat fs. Also make it look like modern combat fs

Couldn't agree more. It should be more like a flightsim. Still I think it runs bad as it is, more realism in the flightsim model would only make it much to heavy.

I hope when CFS 4 comes out I'll have a decent machine to run CFS 3  Roll Eyes

I would like a more flexible and complete career/campaing mode.

You would start out as a training pilot, get assigned to jobs acording to your capacities. If CFS 4 had a FS 2002 (similar) simulation egine it could be fun to simply fly hudge transports, parachuting missions, or even simple patrols without engaging enemies.

Also you should be able to build your character characteristics aside vision/health/g-force tolerance.
Things like Nationality apart from Brit/USA/Germ.

People who like to play Civil Flight Sims like me, download war planes and fly them on FS 2002, wich is a bit unrealistic... I say blend the two sims and get the perfect sim.

Also, Microsoft greatest strength is the ability they have to cooperate with 3rd party developers / providers. Jeppesen, weather stations, amateur plane/scenery developers etc..
I think CFS 4 should have a really great developer for aircrafts. Dont get me wrong, but the planes available for download are somethimes buggy and hard to install.

Some really great ideas here. I'll be happy with carrier ops though, maybey some jets. As to WWI theres a sim in development just now, can't remember anymore than that though.

Orenda's idea is utterly brilliant.

A massively long and involved, dynamic Cold-War role-playing campaign would be just the thing.  Or would that just be too much?

Regardless, whatever the next installment of M$ CFS brings, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it includes two things: strategic bombing, and access to nuclear weapons.

A very nice list of Cold war crafts and excellent idea. Maybe the game should be based on the most dangerous years of the cold war, the late 50s leading up all the way to the early 70's.

I think a WWI sim would suck!! Those machines are so slow, some people are complaining allready because of the "bad" performance of CFS3 planes. Also, helicopters would be fun. It would be original but CFS is all about planes so that would be a dangerous move... .

I would love to see CFS4 in VietNam. I would love to fly over Saigon and teach the NVA a lesson. Napalm, rockets, the first Sidewinders, the works. It would also be neat if you could fly a Huey and do pick-ups for wounded marines and soldiers. Roll Eyes
