When I try to play MP3s, windows media player gives me an unknown error. This has never happened before. The files aren't corrupted, I burned one onto a cd and it works just fine. Windows is having problems with all my MP3s.

Any suggestions on how to fix this

Re-installed Media player version 9 and it seems to be working fine now

V 9 is getting a little more serious about the copy protection setup - it will reject a ton of my legit mp3s on occasion. To the point of irritation - this last install of XP I declined the updates to V9 of the media player and stuck with the old version - I am much happier.

Turn off the copy proection and the part that wants to look for licenses on the net - etc - etc

I understand the need for copy protection - but this stuff will stop you from using your legitimate files as well.
