The birds is a brilliant idea, i was fkyin in micro flight demo i got with a mag and while the grapics are... well there nice, lets leave it at that, the birds are brilliant, id love to chase them around the city in a chopper, see who will be the dominent species of the air Smiley

I know the new game is to celebrate the 100 years of flight, but the planes are rubbish, ill fly some of them once and that will be it, i know i shouldnt be complaining.
Im a helicopter man so it would have been nice to see helis like the bell 47, huey and other historical types.

Ive wanted arrestor cables and catapults for a long time in free ware. Id also like to see A LOT MORE DYNAMIC SCENERY like cars, birds, ships.......  AND REAL AIRLINES INSTEAD OF FAKE ONES.

Some say my pinky toe was replaced with a fountain pen, and that I love to ride on nuclear bombs with a saddle. All I know is.... I'm called THE STIG!!!!

There is a program for arrestor cables know as Aircarb (is that the correct name?) it's available here at simV. You need FUIPC to run it.
The reason (I suspect) that there are know real airlines in FS2002 is because M$ probably charges the airlines to put their name in the game (advertising). The reason we are allowed to do real airline repaints is because it's basically free advertising for them.

Well, I don't know about you but I'd like to see this:

1. A PROPER flight planner, with SID's STARs, the lot. If Wilco Pub can do it, MS certainly can.

2. The ability to run and maintain your own airline, and make a virtual profit. Like fantasy leauge online but with airlines instead.

3. More reallistic damage. I don't mean death and destruction, just things like tyre bursts, engine strikes and flameouts, compressor stalls, bird strikes and the like.

4. Why oh why cant we have a virtual flight crew? I for one have great diffuculty managing all the systems on board a moder, complicated airliner on my own in real time, I want a copilot. For that matter, why can't I go online and fly with somebody, in a cooperative mode (for example, F/O and Captain fly together).

5. More reallistic weather. I want windshear, I want icy runways full of standing water.

6. GPWS and TCAS standard on all aircraft that actually have it.

7. Get rid of 2D panels. I want to be able to copy a DVC over to any model. It's already a second model, so why can't we do this? Imagine, POSKY or MelJet with the MS DVC's.

8. More detail along the approach corridors for major airports. It makes sense - the lower you get, the detail is programmed in.

9. The addition of a new (and seperate) ATC window for online use. This window could take and incoming request, and provide the pilot with several options all related to that request, much in the same way the off-line version does. I hate typing while I'm fighting a 30kt crosswind.

10. The ability to request a change in heading and FL according to weather conditions. I also want to be able to declare emergencys.

That's pretty much it, my top ten.

If no 2d panel - how will panel aliasing work?
Unless there is a dummy folder ??

It must be obvious because MS has confirmed (it would seem) backward compatibility.

One  thing I'd love to see would be  -  jagged rocky high mountains

But most of all - the open architecture & so that developers can make add-ons using programs like FS Design Studio & FS Scenery Creator, etc - not just Gmax .. Roll Eyes

Hear hear!

I knew I forgot something... Roll Eyes

What I meant about the panels is, to put it more clearly.

In the panel folder, there is a .cfg file, and a MDL file, plus textures.

Basically seperating the internal and external physical models completely, so whe can choose to use whatever DVC with whatever aircraft.

I don't see this as being a major hurdle for MS, surely just a simple change in the MDL configuration? Maybe it's more complicated that that, I don't know.

They did away with 2D panels in CFS3.  Also, the old familiar "aircraft container" structure is completely different & there is no MDL file at all. I'm not suggesting they will use this in the civil sims. We'll have to wait & see but the rumour of mouseable functions in the DVC makes me wonder where this is going. Personally, I've never liked 2D panels & always thought the DVC is the best idea.  Roll Eyes

Yes it is the best idea -- think about it, a 3d cockpit atmosphere when flying your plane. These days planes with DVCs are considered excellent in quality and almost everybody goes after those add-ons with the DVC and most are payware. Imagine freeware aicraft with DVCs instead of having those 2d panels. So ACOF will bring about many changes in add-on creation and in a way make them more better and exciting

I think 2D panels should still be there. Look at CFS3, you have to look down to see your guages on some aircraft. What I mainly wanted was the ability to use the mouse to manipulate guages in CFS3, however rumor has it that you will be able to in FS2004.

I'm still also pushing for Dolby 5.1 to create a more realisticly sounding experiance.

I think the Idea of birds is great, I had the same thought a few days ago. Migratory birds would be good - Geese, pelicans, Storks. And if you were flying over the rainforests, Macaws, Amazon parrots etc. By rivers there should be reeds with all sorts of birds in them - Ive always thought FS has been verry lax in the waterfront area.

     It'll never happen.

Cheesy

1) More realistic cloud tops heights, especially in rain/thunderstorms.

2) More realistic looking ground scenery for farmland and the great plains. Looks to quiltish/repetitive looking.

3) The 'scale' of the scenery (trees, buildings, mountains) looks too big. At 5000' details look a lot more smaller. (More realistic scale).

4) City smog. Especially with haze/heat/humidity. The sky isn't cobalt blue when it's 95 degrees and humid in the midwest near a large city. The horizon is smoggy.

5)  Tropical trees in the south. I just see deciduous trees in Florida.

Looks like the tally is in with over 200 votes, here's what the people want most. Better Scenery.
From the looks of screenshots, that doesn't look like it's going to be a problem in FS2004.  Grin

As a side note for all potential buyers of this new sim who worry about system preformance. The Geforce FX 5200 is a good mid range card right now that's selling for cheap at some places right now, $99US at some spots. (Being half Scottish, I find it neccessary to point out a good deal when I see it Wink)
