For details, see megascenery.com. The following is an excerpt from a release by PCAviator:

SOUTH CAROLINA. PC Aviator today announced the impending release of its new photorealistic scenery series for Microsoft Flight Simulator – MegaScenery USA 2004.

With MegaScenery USA 2004, US flight simmers now have the opportunity to soar the Microsoft Flight Simulator skies over 5 meter per pixel, satellite based, photorealistic scenery of a variety of areas of the United States.

Developed by Aerosoft (Australia) Pty Ltd and published by PC Aviator Inc, MegaScenery USA 2004 takes flight simulator photorealistic scenery to a whole new level with vast areas 12,000 -15,000 square mile areas of photorealistic scenery for each volume that will be released. For the first time since MegaScenery 98, US flyers will be able to navigate cross country - VFR – throughout areas of the United States.

The scenery, however, is not limited to daytime flying. MegaScenery USA 2004 uses Aerosoft (Australia’s) proprietary scenery creation techniques to provide night flying with spine tingling realism. At night cities light up as vast seas of light. The lighting is not random but based on the actual infrastructure of each city’s lighting with actual street and highways and all buildings that are lit up at night.

Another unique feature of this scenery is that actual bodies of water behave as water enabling landing of float plans on any body of water within the scenery bounds. So users get to enjoy both photorealistic scenery and at the same time the advanced features of Microsoft Flight Simulator.
