Some people wanted to know which is the most common video card used to play CFS3. I use a Geforce 2 MX400 64mb.

If you pick other, please tell us which one.

I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday. I recently purchased CFS, and to my dismay, need to get a graphics card. My computer is an HP pavilion 7840 and I use Windows ME. What card do you recommend and how much do they cost?  Cry

I've often wondered what differance a new card would make.  Problem is cost.

My system specs:

1. Pentium 4 with 2.4ghz
2. 512 mb ram
3. GeForce 4 MX440 (Gateway) with 128mb
4. 60gb hard drive
5. 17" Flta screen (LCD)
6. Sound Blaster Audigy

I have recently purchased CFS3 (took the risk anyways). I was disappointed about it's performance and gravely sadden that I can't return the sim.

But, due to my system specs, my hopes were restored after making a few tweaks on the CFS3 configoration program and by adding the no-cd patch.

After that, the stutters are now reduced to an unnoticable level. Also, the performance has improved. I could finally raise my resolution without a problem.

I am really surprised that such a problem could be fixed that quickly. Shocked

The game is good from what I see. The only problem I'm having right now is winning some missions in the campaign. My bombing runs SUCK, and I get blown out of the sky by flak. In short, I need to be trained a little more. Grin Tongue

From what you see in this post, you can tell that I might have had an unfair advantage over CFS3. Grin joke

If you guys still have problems with the sim, after tweaking, I'll have to feel sorry for you people (after wasting money on it, and shocked by it's low-end performance). Undecided

this game ran ok, when first released  on my old amd600 with a ati pci slot 32m card. stuttered , but looked ok.

ok, I wasnt shaken... I built this rig, from what I could find in my budget.... amd1700+  G4 Ti4200 30g WD hd 7200/ata100
5.1 sound... and now Cable connection ! Wahoo ! woke the bloody game up !
Dont ever let things get yaz down, get revenge . as this dog does... bite back hard ! and tweak more.
I use exactly what the zip I posted shows, and stutter comes from someone else's bad connection or bad set up.

If you dont like this game, I apologise for those who did this to us. but I happen to love it. I get  a wonderful looking , smooth playing  and DETAIL FILLED experience... anyone whining needs to stay on the porch with the rest of the winey baby puppies. go play a arcade game or give up . Dont expect any good things to be perfect right out of the box.

Bottleneck spotted! Wink

I've got the same card as you but with a much lower spec machine (see below).
Considering the cost of the rest of your system spec's, a low end GFX card such as a GF4 MX is going to hold you back considerably.

I'd exchange your Graphics card for a GF4 ti (or better!), no question, you'll see a major jump in performance.

Paul.

I don't think I made myself clear on my last post.

I said I made a few tweaks using CFS3's configeration program it came with.

And by adding the No-CD patch, I don't need an upgrade anymore.

The graphics on the sim is intense. I really don't notice any stuttering (on my last post I did say that the stutters have been reduced to an unnoticable level).

Besides, my mind get's lost with all the action that goes around. You know, WAY better graphics and and having jet to jet combat with only guns. It's fun really.

Anyways, the so-called bottleneck you saw has been improved and fixed.

But I still feel sorry for those who never made it through with tweaking. Embarrassed Undecided

Well, I like the game graphics wise and game play wise, I think it is cool, a really immersive environment.  You dont really understand it until you are screaming over the front lines looking for targets and seeing the artillery, tanks shooting, etc...  It is cool.  I can almost imagine the troops cheering when they see me blow a tank etc...   Grin

Anyway, lol, here are my system specs.

AMD Athlon 1800+xp
VIA Kt266 DDR
512 DDR memory
Albatron Ti4200 p 128 mb DDR
Santa Cruz sound card
I am running DX9 as well as the latest Nvidia Drivers and have all settings at 4 except for the planes they are at 5.

I am thinking about getting a new system with a Geforce 5800FX, but havent made up my mind yet.

I've heard that the Radeon 9800 is better than the Geforce FX5600. The top GeforceFX and the Radeon 9800 are about equal.
