Hello, I have FS2002 and need help with the changing of the display and sound of the aircraft. I just downloaded the AF747F and the cockpit is that of a C172 and the sounds of one as well. How do I go about changing the cockpit to a B744 and change the sound to that of a B744? Please advise me how to do this step by step as I am sort of slow with this computer stuff!

Look forward to hearing back as I LOVE these downloads of these cool planes! Thanks, Greg

Greg if you copy the PANEL and SOUND folders from the default 747 into your new directory, then it will work just fine.

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

1. Navigate to the aircraft folder that contains the 747 you want your other aircraft to immitate, probably b747-400 which is in the aircraft folder in your main FS2002 directory.

2. Find and select the folders that are labled panel and sound and copy them.

3. Navigate to the aircraft folder that contains the aircraft you want to have these sounds and panel.  Click on the label for the sound folder (or the panel folder) and type "sound.bak" or "panel.bak", depending on the folder you have selected.  This will ensure that if you somehow foul this process up, you can change the label back to its original and you can still use the aircraft.

4. Repeat step 3 for the other folder mentioned there.  Now go to the toolbar and select paste from the edit menu.  The two folders you copied in step 1 will now be pasted into the folder you are working on.  Voila!  You are ready to fly with the new panel and sounds . . .

OR Roll Eyes

If you are really clever (and I don't recomend this if you don't know what you are doing) you can simply perform the operations in steps 3 and 4 above and create an alias.

An alias is a simple little bit of coding that tells the computer to look in a certain folder for a certain item for an aircraft.  This enables you to use one single copy of a panel, sound, etc for multiple aircraft.  If you really, really want to do this, I or someone else can tell you how.  (Its not TOO difficult) Smiley
