I've got a Scottish mate who threw himself out of perfectly good aircraft more than 1000 times, some of those being world records. He did this mainly out of
Strathallan EGZR Scotland. I was disappointed to see, when I looked ,that MS didn't have as wide a coverage
as some other areas. I downloaded more airfields
(regraham@compuserve.com) and found the field my
mate flew from. Its got a couple of Cessnas at the moment but I'd like to add a Porter Pilatus and a
Twin Otter (Warsteiner). Is it possible? ???

First of all: Yes!

You'll have to search for those planes on this site, or any of the other big FS sites.

Once you've found them, you'll have to create some flight plans for them, which you can do by downloading a program which easily creates flight plans. I think it might be available here at SimV.

Thanks! I think you mean AI aircraft and their flight
planning. I've already got the aircraft and I know
that you can do it in FS2002 but I think this might be
a bit different than the usual addon AI. Bottom line
is if I have to spend more time shuffling folders and
files than flying ,I'll go flying. It does raelly get down to
how hard it will be.

This could get messy because when you look at it
you are adding an addon to an addon. Why did I ask ???

You need a scenery package editor for starters. FSSE (FS SCenery Editor) by Derek Leung (hope I'm getting all this right - doing it from memory) is Free and comes with great built in tutorials.

Than you need to find scenery macros for the aircraft. I'd suggest trawling all the major flightsim file libraries for those and perhaps you'll turn them up.

Is your friend Eddie Jones by any chance?
He is my instructor at strathallan. The Cessenas are G-STAT and G-??GE, I jumped from AT on Sunday Grin.
If you need any info on the layout I'll be happy to help.

http://www.simviation.com/fs2002props28.htm theres a Do28 here theres one that comes down from st. Andrews for display jumps and high altitude jumps. Anyone know where to get a decent C.206, theres a float version at flightsim.com but I've never seen the tricicle version Cry, if I ever find one I'm going to paint it as G-STAT and G-??GE if I can ever remember it's registration Embarrassed.

THanks for the info Tipster, this sounds like it might be a tad beyond my skills at the moment!!
No Craig my mate left quite a few years ago and the nearest Perth now is in WESTERN AUSTRALIA Grin
I printed the airfield list and he's reminiscing as he
marks those he jumped from and I intend to fly into.
He left before the Air Museum closed but remembers a
Pilatus and Otter operating out of other fields and I hope he remembers so I can fly the right type at the
right field. Where did you find the 206?

I have several amphibious airplanes that I would like to add to a waterway or island shore as part of the scenery, like the default airports that have a 747 or other such aircraft parked at the gates.

Is that a possiblity, or am I just wishing?

Ender, it's exactly the same scenario as the original questioner and the answers are equally applicable.

You need a scenery editor and, (here's the tricky bit) to find a scenery macro for the aircraft you want to add.

It's not possible to just add an aircraft model. It's a different format altogether to what would appear as static scenery.

The only other alternative is to add them as A.I. aircraft using ttools, and have them actually flying in and out.

You answered half of the question I had, but I didn't make it clear enough.

I wanted to know if it is possible to add the aircraft scenery macros into the water, resting on their floats.

If I seem to be repeating the same question to you over and over, I'm sorry!  I didn't know if you had gotten that from my last message (it was a little vague).

Ah I see. Shocked

Well I'm no expert on scenery design, I've only dabbled in it, but from what little I know, I suspect you can't have them "floating" as such.

I think you'd have to apply a "hardened" area to the bit of water you wanted to add the aircraft to, and put it on the top.

I may be completely wrong though.

My original question was also a bit vague but the intention was to have parked aircraft as indicative of the field usage. Strathallan is a heavy use skydiving field hence the Pilatus Porter and Twin Otter. Other aircraft are used of course.
Thanks Craig and is Billy Summmerville still active?
Thanks also to Tipster once again. Parking an amphibian? AAARGH!!
                                                    Cheers
