FS always freezes at the splashscreen whenever I open it. Whenever I press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, it says that my CPU is being fully used.

System Specs:
Windows XP
Pentium4 1.6Ghz
512MB DDR RAM
Radeon9500 Pro graphics
20 gig HD

With those specs, it's unlikely to be a lack of resources causing the freeze unless you're very short on hard drive space. If so, your virtual memory could be running out.

If not, I'd consider re-installing your FS2002.

Greetings,

Have you downloaded any effects files recently?

Or edited any effects files?

If an effect (fx) file has a certain type of error in it
( that is, a bad or nonallowable data entry) it can crash
the sim at the splash screen....

The sim just freezes while trying to load the bad file,
you can use ctl/alt/dlt to get to windows...

Regards,

JR

Puzzling to say the least if it's a clean install.

Was this just FS2002 you re-installed or your whole PC? (Just done that myself).

If it's just FS2002, try this:

Start/Run - Type in "dxdiag" and enter.

Run the tests and see if your video and sound are all ok.
