Although I have very little use for military hardware (I personally think they have no place in FS2002) -- being a devout Kamov fan, I was naturally attracted to this helicopter.

It is a nice visual model but the handling characteristics are so sluggish as to be nearly unflyable. It has no maneuverability whatsoever.  However, those who use the helicopters as STOL (rather than VTOL) and fly them as if they are fixed-wings will not notice.

One other thing.  While the visual model is quite nice, there is a rather horrible flaw -- it is incorrectly sized.  A Ka50/52 has a rotor diameter of 14.5 meters. This FS model is less than 10 meters.....closer to 9.7.

I can fix the sluggish handling but not the size problem. so I have deleted it.  Hopefully the author may see this, fix it and re-issue it.

Yeah I didn't like it that much either, feels kinda slow, looks good though.
I don't wanna start an argumeant here but why should military aircraft have any less of a place in FS than civil?

Personally I feel if it flies it has a right to appear in FS. I mean everyone likes different things. We've got a fair few Star Wars models turned up, and even a Thunderbirds one. You could argue that fictional vehicles have no place, but sometimes I love taking the Millenium Falcon for a spin!

hey Craig

I don't agree with U when U say that civilian a/c's are more important or should be, as matter of fact, they are!
just take a look: how many civilian are there?? dunno but I do know that they're more numerous than military, it's a matter of like and deslike 'em.
And I agree with Blade when he says that fs is not a civilian one or military...it's just simulation, all military are unable to shoot, that's y combat fs is in the market!!!
I know U don't want to start argumeant (me too) but I think your point of view is a little bit wrong, the fact that military a/c's are there is no reason to beleive that everybody is violent or beligerant or killers ....it's just that they are beautiful to look at and awesome machines to fly!
that's it!

Wow!  Talk about defensive!  Thank you!   It feels good to be right now and then.

Flight Simulator was originally intended to be just that.  The moment you introduce Star Wars, Jet Fighters, Trucks, Cars, Submarines, etc., you turn it into an Arcade Game to satisfy those who become bored very easily.

Let the flames roll.  I won't be opening this thread again, so anything directed at me is a waste of your time.

foo fighter you missed my point, and repeated what I said, I never said civil was more important or less, I just said why should one take presidence over the other. And I know Calb said he's not comming back but, do fighters not fly anymore?
Also I totally agree with Foo fighter that fighters are beautiful and awesome to fly for example a nice and shiny F-86 or a thurbred (sp ???)like the F-104 or F-15 Grin
speaking of which I aint flown one for a while, later.
