I'd like to try to change a couple of start-up settings in CFS2, so I can have
friends be able to play without me having to be right there to:
1. Move the camera around behind the plane, so you can see forward
2. Set the trim tabs to a specific value
3. Drop the panel from the cockpit view

They already have enough trouble from me always yelling "PULL UP!! PULL UP!!!

I suspect the settings are in the .air file- AirEd shows a lot of "unknown"
values there.

Too bad there's no "save" function, as in the civilian sim

I'm not quite sure what you wish to do. The AIR file defines the flight model, nothing more. Some startup settings can be changed from CFS2.cfg but these are only general. It seems to me that learning a few simple key commands would do what you want. This would depend on the keyboard layout you're using.

Full view/HUD toggle - F3 or W
Cycle views, Cockpit/Virtual cockpit/Spot view - F4 or S
Chase view  toggle - Ctrl + F4 or C

Installing a panel with a mousable elevator trim wheel might not be a bad idea.

It's no problem for myself-- as I mentioned, it's for friends to be able to play without me having to be right there to get the view set, trim adjusted,etc...In FlightSim 2002 the initial starting conditions can be adjusted, and then saved. Then, when someone besides me sits down to play, everything is already set: The plane shows up on the runway with the view set, the trim already adjusted for that aircraft, and the panel dropped from the cockpit view--so they can just open the throttle and go...I'm just asking if anyone knows whether those things can be set in cfs 2, maybe in one of the config files...

Ah, now I understand. You want to be able to save flights. Try Bill Potvin's Cfo Weather. Here's the CFS2 version. http://www.cfsops.com/Modules/Cfo_Weather_75.htm
