Hi JR...!
..just got REALLY excited and tried that entry change, (saved it).
It gets the dreaded shakes at 50 knots/MPH now... Cry...!
(so it's worse!).
What made you select that particular entry to modify in the Air File?

...any more tips to try...?

Cheers...
Paul.

Hello all,

The SE5a was shaking at 60kts for me too, until I
changed the "wingspan=" entry in the aircraft.cfg file...

from 33.833 to 30.50... this change allows me to fly
up to 130kts without shaking..

JR

I tried JR's suggestion by reducing the number and it made matters worse.
Today I tried increasing the number from 33.833 to 40.50....cured it.... Grin....!
It seems that the higher the number the more stable the plane becomes....!

Why that particular entry should affect the flight characteristics I don't know, but it seems to...!

My speed is now in excess of 140 knots, shredding a bit of canvas, but at least I'm not throwing up my dinner into my lap now with the vibration... 8)...!
LOL...!

Cheers...
Paul.

Greetings,

In my haste I forgot to mention that with the SE5a I am using the air file from the dh82 "tiger moth" and have
made the following changes in the aircraft.cfg:

{flight_tuning}//DH82
cruise_lift_scalar=1.00
pitch_stability=1.000
roll_stability=1.00
yaw_stability=1.00
parasite_drag_scalar=1.000
induced_drag_scalar=1.250
elevator_effectiveness=1.7000
aileron_effectiveness=2.00
rudder_effectiveness=0.700
elevator_trim_effectiveness=1.000
aileron_trim_effectiveness=1.000
rudder_trim_effectiveness=1.000

And in the {aircraft_geometry} section:

elevator_up_limit=20//14.541669
elevator_down_limit=20//14.541669

I picked the wing span by trying to get the wing "area"
to match "mean chord x wing span" more closely...

I tried various values; some caused shaking fore and
aft while others caused shaking left and right...

I had no trouble at all with the "roland".

Regards,

JR
