I now have my ultimate car. A 1976 Mini 1275GT in BRG. Outside it is badged as a 1275 but underneth it has a 1380, 16v, twin webber, stage 3 engine. Oh and there is a supercharger bolted on for good measure. Driving the wheels is a Jack Night 6 speed straight cut dog box. On the rolling road it produced 143bhp and 176lbft @ 5600rpm. I have taken it to Santa Pod raceway and covered the 1/4 mile in a best time of 13.54sec at a speed of 103mph and wasted a 300bhp impreza in the process.
Watch out.........Youve been minied!!!!

And then you woke up I suppose.......
Torque steer springs to mind, never mind the sheer lack of space under a mini's hood for such mods.

Hey not convinced, it is possible to do this setup, I've seen it before, although you have to cut a hole in the bonnet for the supercharger I believe (at least on my mates one we did). The rebore and stage 3 kit are perfectly feasible.

I envy you!!!!! i wanted a mini for my first car, instead i got a rubbish metro. but tbh my <100bhp 1.1 is faster than your 1.4 blower if it can only handle 103mph
i hope its wrong

Impressive, especially when you consider some other cars that get similar times........
Take a look at this link, I think you'll agree.....

Ford Escort R.S. Cosworth & BMW M3 Performance figures. (Including the 1/4 mile).

You dont need to cut a hole in the bonnet for the supercharger as it was designed by minisport to fit inside the standard mini engine bay. You need to cut the bulkhead if you are fitting a metro turbo engine. Also as a 1275GT was a clubman you get a bit more space (not much more) under the bonnet.
And yes the torque steer is unbileivable. It is very easy to spin it when you put your foot down. Which is where a decent diff comes in to play.

Matt - I do not like you anymore.
I was trying to find a roadable RHD Mini (in the Central Florida USA area) to use as my day-to-day care, but the asking prices are too much. One of the new Minis is more affordable!

Felix have a look at
http://barnhillminis.bizland.com/
One of my friends owns the garage he uses for his bodywork and mechanics. He specialises in exporting minis to the florida area. Prices are reasonable cosidering export charges and the amount of work that goes into restoring them

Guys Guys Gusy....I can tell a story of a Mini that I know about......its Green....its Old and in great shape....I don't think anything at all has been done to it mechanically, but it has had one bit of a mod done.....a friend of mine install all sorts of aftermarket "toys" into anything you like......Security systems.....remote starters....things like that,, and oh yeh, of course, STEREOS ! ! ! 8)....This little boom box will shake the very foundations of any building that is drives past
....it was used as a demo model in stereo trade shows and won a few times.....this one is loud......and for the driver in us all,...WHAT A WASTE ! ! ! !
