Yeah  ,  my flight instructor was a bit like that , he was very big on pre flight drills :

1. He would attach his St Christopher medal to the panel.
2. Put on a parachute.
3. Get his priest to come out to the aircraft and give him the Last Rites.
4. Say the Rosary during start up .

He was a bit of an odd character , however he got better later on when I stopped wearing my Kamikazi sweat band.
