Don't worry; I'm sure NASA will find some way to get credit for it......
Governments are really good at taking credit when a civilian project goes well and for placing blame when it doesn't.
"I have a place where dreams are born, And time is never planned. It’s not on any chart, You must find it with your heart."
Albert Einstein - "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe."
Martin Luther King Jr. - “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - “There is nothing worse than aggressive stupidity.”
Mark Twain - “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

Bingo! My thoughts on most "NASA" aircraft. NASA claims they did the research but upon closer inspection you realize about all they contributed was their logo.
"At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation."- Igor Sikorsky

The Blackbird/LASRE experiment for instance. Lockheed built both, and mounted the LASRE on an SR-71 that just happened to have the NASA logo on it.
