Hi all,
For years I have been chasing that perfect way to control the aircraft that I am flying at the time.  From FS98 onwards, joysticks, yokes and rudder peddles have all been my choice of controlling my aircraft.  I now use a CHProduct  Yoke and peddles, but given the amount of movement on these controllers, I always find that they are generally always over sensitive, even with software that is available to overcome this.  Then two days ago, I had a Eurica moment.  While messing with an aircraft cfg, I noticed the following section section:-

[FLIGHT_TUNING]
CRUISE_LIFT_SCALAR=1
PARASITE_DRAG_SCALAR=1
INDUCED_DRAG_SCALAR=1
ELEVATOR_EFFECTIVENESS=1.00
AILERON_EFFECTIVENESS=1.00
RUDDER_EFFECTIVENESS=1.00
PITCH_STABILITY=1.000
ROLL_STABILITY=1.000
YAW_STABILITY=1.000
ELEVATOR_TRIM_EFFECTIVENESS=1.000
AILERON_TRIM_EFFECTIVENESS=1.000
RUDDER_TRIM_EFFECTIVENESS=1.000

I made a few changes to it and l found that I had a lot better control than before.  I also was able to stall it without losing more than 100 ft.  The changes I made were:-

[FLIGHT_TUNING]
CRUISE_LIFT_SCALAR=1
PARASITE_DRAG_SCALAR=1
INDUCED_DRAG_SCALAR=1
ELEVATOR_EFFECTIVENESS=0.60
AILERON_EFFECTIVENESS=0.60
RUDDER_EFFECTIVENESS=0.60
PITCH_STABILITY=1.000
ROLL_STABILITY=1.000
YAW_STABILITY=1.000
ELEVATOR_TRIM_EFFECTIVENESS=1.000
AILERON_TRIM_EFFECTIVENESS=1.000
RUDDER_TRIM_EFFECTIVENESS=1.000

I have tried this on several aircraft and it works a treat and the numbers I changed do very slightly from aircraft to aircraft, but they generally are 0.60.  You have to find that sweet spot.

I must stress that this is for my own preference and that it  gives me a more precise control and therefore a better flying experience.  As usual, remember to backup you cfg before making any changes and I hope someone finds this useful.

Wow!  So did I.  "Must be jelly, 'cause jam doesn't shake like that!"  I vaguely remember tipping her about twenty... Cheesy

(Psst!  He meant "Eurica" moment)

Oh....  Never mind. Tongue

Humor.  *smile*.

Nice tip, however.  Wink

If you're going to be pedantic it's spelt Eureka. Tongue

I've often made the kind of changes to the [flight_tuning] section of the aircraft.cfg file that RichD made. I've found that many of the airplanes I download are way too touchy on the controls, and reducing control sensitivity makes them more realistic. That also applies to elevator trim sensitivity.

Glad I'm not the only one to do this Art.  You got to be careful with the trim though, otherwise you can lose it just when you need it,  Embarrassed
