Bad Microsoft!  Bad!  No cookie for you!  Angry

I've flown Flight vs. FSX on about a 1-10 ratio over the last week with FSX being the 10...

I hereby withdraw any support I have given Flight over the past couple of weeks.  It's just too bad.  No traffic, no atc, no planes, no nothing but a big payout for MS for DLC.  I'm out...  Angry

I really tried to be supportive, but it's just not there.

When Flight first came out I think everybody including me tried to be positive about Flight.

But how can you really be positive about a broken game?

No ATC, no AI, no planes, no scenery. It refuses to pick up the throttles on my quadrant. No point in trying my radio panel as there is no ATC. The only thing that it has doing for it, unlike FSX, you don't find any trees in the middle of runways Grin

To me this isn't about being supportive, Its about to be realistic confronting the truth a truth of what we see ,as Matt says , Quote:
No ATC, no AI, no planes, no scenery. It refuses to pick up the throttles on my quadrant
I will add no 3rd party add ons in the future ,different Keys ,No Jets , No more than Just than Hawaii (I wont let then Manipulate me that NOW they are making the world ,I see a LIE ,another manipulation from this company because I got the feeling that things are not gong so well as they planned )
Flight Its what It is ,unless you buy more island ,more airplanes (propellers)  Its what you see

I don't know what's going on about few members that has the need to defend something (No U wing Nuts  Wink ) that Is what it is , again this is not something that comes to replace older versions ,..it can't..Its ridiculous

It just another game that it will be on the top for few month ad then will be forgotten While FSX still will be in Millions of PCs around the world beyond Hawaii..

The way M$ advertising and this whole Month of a top secret super secret FS?? has become in a huge disappointment for the FS enthusiasts , I wonder How many airplanes and Island they has sold until now?

Did the Business is going well M$?  I don't know what kind of Mind runs this business ,but I bet they have sold a bigger amount of what they sold FSX to Lockheed Martin, with the whole world ,did it worth the big business ...you can't drive marketing and people's mind ,and by these kind of actions you will end Like Pan AM ...in bankruptcy

You know what makes me so angry? M$ never even finished FSX properly. It was flawed from the start. I could not even come close to estimating how much I have spent upgrading PC's & replacing PC's just get it to run halfway decent. Its all I have read on forms for years now. But I persevered. I stood by M$. I knew they would come good in the end. I had faith!
What do M$ do? Do they fix it? No. They call us a "sub genre" of flight sim, turn their back on us all and then have the gall to try to get us to buy there snake oil AGAIN by calling it Flight. What happens when the last FSX disk has been sold on the shops? What then? Thank god I'm nearly 60. Hopefully I wont be around to see the death throws of Microsoft flight sim. M$ RIP Sad Cry

New types of sims are coming: Outerra is a pretty nice one. You should take a look. It's a all round sim with realistic physics for planes, orbital flight, cars, boats, etc.
And the scenery is breath taking too! Really! It's not finished yet, but it's very promissing:

After watching the video of the Apache flying at tree top level in the valley, I'm sold!  I've never seen a flight sim with anything that looked that good!

Yeah, I can't run it on my laptop so I can't really tell. I heard the flight dynamics were still basic at the moment, but updates are coming...
From what I've heard they use the same type of simulation as X-plane, which, if made properly, is very good.
Even so, the sim is still in pre-alpha stage. There's still a long way until it's finished. But the more we support it the better!
Here's another video:

Well I watched the videos. Fantastic! Smiley On the strength of them I downloaded the sim & paid $15 to get the Cessna & helo too. Configured them for my Saitek X52. It worked. Amazing.
All I can say is that it's very much in alpha mode. Long way from any use but I have donated $15 to the cause. I will wait some and give them a chance but apart from nice scenery its not up to much yet. Thanks Xpand for pointing the sim out to me. maybe I wont turn my face to the wall just yet  WinkUndecided

You know that buying the alpha version garantees you the full game for free when it comes out?
Sadly I can't buy it myself because my computer doesn't meet the minimal specifications necessary to run the game...

Just to be sure, we are talking about Anteworld, the demo they released, correct?

From what it looks like, you'll be able to walk out of your front door, drive to the airport, fly to a lake somewhere, take a boat and go boating.   Smiley  I wonder if they'll add rail; then we'll have train simulator as well...

If you oldtimers recall Flight Simulator II and IV. It was still 3rd party addon companies that came out with innovative addons. This "Flight" game was never about expanding the boundaries of flightsimulation. It was about trying to grab a market share of the 3rd party developers combined with trying to make an XBOX hit. And to add to their network presence as they tried to do with Bing! , silverlight and Microsoft Live accounts.

Unless MS bought all the top end 3rd party developers and made FS a flagship product (like Office and all it's ancillary software) we will never see any DLC (always overpriced) from MS approaching the quality of PMDG, ActiveSky,  or FlyTampa. Acceleration had the needed patch, but the Hornet and 737 as realistic addons? please.

That said, flight sim won't end. In the next thirty years, there will still be some more advanced flight sim somewhere. maybe some offshoot of prepar3d or XP11. Or if Apple decides to start making games and simulations.

Well if MS thinks it's a good idea to hold onto the FS market (which they basically created and have alot of fans) then they will soon realise their only option is to make FS11.
If not then it's best they just drop it and realise they fumbled massively.

Having become addicted to one of the very earliest versions ..... and being stuck with what we had -- realizing there were people out there making addons exploded my FS experience into what started this site ..

I was thrilled that there were other aircraft (like jets) and new panels to fly in ..... they were all so easy to install .... it made FS more than 10,000 times better ..... & ALL because it was open source and there were people making all this stuff by their own enthusiasm .. it was amazing.

Sure .. some was crap and some didn't work ... but it was the GREAT stuff that kept being available every day or 2 that rose 30,000 feet to make it all fantastic.

Had it been a closed market like Flight is ..  it would have died a death within a year or 2 ... No way would MSFS have worked  ..

Luckily FSX  (&FS2004) has literally unlimited potential. Given computer resources we could be flying around our towns in real time ... potentially .. There are no limits beyond the drive to create ...

(.. as a point ... My main current PC was purchased in 2010 ... FSX runs at all maxed zero problem. No stuttering. & without any tweaking either. My older PC was bought in 2007 .. again FSX running at about 60-70% without any problems ...  I never can see why folk have trouble  -- unless you are trusting those 'securities' from the likes of Windows .. to be running on your system .. -- always do an  Alt Ctrl Del to see what is using your resources .. you may find a few are rubbish and un-needed... )

... and the future really does lie in open source programming ... ALL the greatest innovation comes from that (& yes even Apple uses coding that was developed openly -then they bought it & patented it .. Main reason I use Android over Apple) There will be other open source Flight Sims ... The demand will never go away -- as WE all know ..

Think Global. It's the world we live in.

This cannot be over-stated..

Between what can be built into a model (aircraft and scenery), and/or manipulated in the cfg and air file, and the things that can be accomplished via XML "gauges"..  The innovative horizon is still WAY out there  Smiley

Since they sold off the FSX engine to Lockheed Martin, I wouldn't hold out for an FS11.  If by some chance there was one, it would have to be based on Flight, not FSX.

It was my impression that L/M had picked it up from MS so they could develop their own simulator from it.  If that's mistaken, my bad...

OK! Enough with the "Flight" section...WHERE'S THE OUTERRA SECTION!?!?

I just tried the demo on a machine with the following specs:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
AMD 4400+ Dual Core @ 2.2Ghz
2GB PC-3200
ATI (AMD now) Radeon HD3870

With the screen resolution set at 1400 X 900@ 75hz, I was getting between 15 and 35 FPS! That's better than FSX on the rig in my sig! I will be watching this project with GREAT interest!  Shocked

Specs: Asus Crosshair nForce 590 SLI,

I agree there should be an Outerra Section.

And before people comment on it you must remember that it's still a Beta.

For example it uses far too much Graphics Card Memory according to the Development team.

Man, you guys are putting a lot out there for a sim that is barely usable.  The one I have, the plane is almost uncontrollable, you have to respawn every time you want to change a setting, there is no pause feature, the plane is basically just a white shell with no markings of any kind, and you can't even land the thing.  There is NO flight model.

It looks good, yes and I did pay the $15 so I will be getting the game when complete, but several companies (Aerosoft, for one...) have tried making an FSX killer now and nothing has panned out yet.  I know it's in an early stage, but to be honest, I don't think it rates gushing over yet.  Wink

I just feel, that as far as potential goes, it could go a very long way. It isn't being developed to be a flight sim, but it would be an interesting platform to base one on. The only thing I didn't care for is the realtime downloading of terrain. Anyway, I get that it's only a rendering engine as yet, but again, so much potential. That's all I was saying.

Wink

Well there should be a Flight Model. It uses the same FDE Program as Flightgear.

As I said it's still a beta & it will get better.

It's more usable than Flight. Wink
