I stand by to be flamed or trolled but I am beginning to wonder why folks are comparing Flight to FSX.   Smiley

It would make sense if Flight was FS11.  It isn't and never was.  Flight and FSX are different things.  (I use the word thing to avoid using game or sim!).  I don't see any evidence that there will be a FS11.

Personally I have both,  I use both,  I enjoy both. However I don't do the same things in both.  What they have in common is that they simulate flying to some degree or another.  They are not mutually exclusive.  FSX has a long life ahead of it

Having said all that I do understand where the interest in comparing comes from.  My hope is that this aspect will fade away and we (those of us that have time for Flight) can concentrate on the 'thing'

Microsoft Flight is not FS11 and never was as that Franchise has been discontinued. It is the first version of the new Microsoft Flight series which is the 11th time a Microsoft Flight sim related product has been released.

As for what MF is, this is how it was advertised on August 17,2010.

"On August 17, 2010, Microsoft announced a new flight simulator designed to replace the Microsoft Flight Simulator series. Flight features new aircraft, scenery and terrain, a revamped weather engine, and new game play elements for users of all skill levels. The new weather engine renders more realistic clouds and weather effects, including fog that blends well with the surrounding terrain, which Microsoft's previous flight simulator release, FSX was not capable of. As seen in the screenshots, the most noticeable graphical improvements are the newer shader models and the use of new DirectX versions. Part of the improvement is more realistic lighting and self shadowing on aircraft, as well as the ability for terrain and scenery objects to cast shadows onto other objects and terrain. The aircraft visual models are much improved over those of the previous flight simulator releases. Flight also features a new missions system."

Why do people compare MF with FSX, its because they are interested whether or not the released MF meets what was previously advertised as a comparison with FSX.
