Just downloaded Microsoft Flight. Graphically, superior over FSX and FS9 by far. Flight characteristics are surprisingly accurate and feel right. (I've heard a RV-6 pilot confirm that the Flight RV is almost exactly like the real thing.) Once you step away from the missions and such, it is actually pretty nice...doesn't have as much of an arcade feel as some are saying. Anyway, here's the first in a series of screenshots. (if I ever get around to continuing them, that is.  Grin)

Apparently it was made available a bit early. If you wish to download Flight, click here.

NOTE: If you have nothing good to say, leave. Please don't fill this thread with your hate. Let the ones who do enjoy it post and talk about it. Send Microsoft an email and let them know your feelings if you really need to let something out.

Cool

I can safely say that for me, it runs much MUCH worse. FSX runs far better for me than Flight. That said, I had to dumb down the graphics which brought out many-a glitch. Also, for some dumb reason the stalls are virtually non existent even though I turned all the realism settings on. That and even at 20kts the Icon was rocking at least 15degrees when input aileron on the ground.

Yes, the Stearman and Icon are free, but some of the most active beta testers received the DLC content for the release version for free as well. I was one that received the content...all of it.  Cheesy

1) Are the gauges 3D?
2) How do the VCs compare to the FSX default (i.e., more or less usable buttons and switches)?

1. Gauges are 3D
2. VCs are visually WAY better than FSX...buttons, probably a few more clickable than FSX, if not, the same. Depends on the plane.

I agree with your opinion of it, I MAY get the Vans, but damn...the clouds ruin it.  I just...REX looks sooooo good, and the default flight clouds look so bad

While those are great shots & Flight is fun, it won't replace FSX anytime soon. No third-party makes sure of that.

Also Brandon you say that the VC's are better than FSX default a/c VC's. Just to inform FoxThree the gauges aren’t that much better than a FSX aircraft. Also there aren’t any Tool Tips.

BTW I'm not hating Flight I'm just telling the truth in my opinion.

No tooltips? I must be seeing things, because I do indeed have tooltips in the VC. And yes, the gauges aren't that much better than ADD-ON aircraft for FSX. They blow the default gauges out of the water. FSX default aircraft use flat, low resolution 2D bitmaps. Flight's gauges are built-in 3D gauges. The glass covers and needles are even modeled in. (most noticeable on the Maule.) I can see why you might say the RV-6 gauges aren't any better, as they do look a little dull, although those are 3D as well.

A least on the Stearman & Icon I don't think there are. (I'll go have a closer look now)

I know they blow the default out of the water but they don't blow freeware out of the water.

Now, I bought & downloaded the Maule & while the 3d gauges are nice I've seen better FSX freeware & payware which is a shame considering I had to pay for the Maule.

For example if the Maule was in FSX the doors would be clickable.

Also I found the tooltips but they only appear on some gauges while in FSX all the gauges would have tooltips.

Now I still believe that Flight is fun I’m just trying to tell people that it’s not a replacement for FSX.

It looks nice, but in my opinion ill use it when im just bored, the idea is really mediocre and a sad way to see what flightsim has become, a game that was to challenge and simulate real flying. Lets just make it so it flys like people expect it to.Lets just give the people wonderful paradise and typical flightdynamics oh , and 2 airplanes...just buy the other two. sorry to shed some overcast on others buts its how i feel and ill stick to my fs9/x
