Ok, so it's time to start getting back into it, much to the chagrin of my wife. Smiley

So in anticipation of the as yet unannounced release of MS Flight I went out and bought a new PC.  Nothing but the best Wal-Mart has for me, yes SIR!

AMD Athlon II Quad-core 3.2 ghz
8Gb ram expandable to 16gb
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
ATI Radeon 4200 integrated
1tb drive (added a second as soon as I bought it)
...and a partridge in a pear tree. Smiley

Think it will run it?  I figure I have time yet to get the Ram upgraded and a decent video card.

See it HERE...

I also ordered a fresh, brand new copy of FSX Gold to replace my old worn out one.  You know how a new game always runs faster, after all. Smiley

Oh yeah, and I dusted off my Saitek Cyborg too...

HP p7-1300w
AMD Athlon II X4 650 Quad-core 3.2 Ghz
23" HP Widescreen monitor/19" Dell monitor
Windows 7 Home Premium
16 Gb DDR3 PC10600 Ram
1 Gb GeForce GTX 550Ti video card
1 TB RAID Drives

Hello Wing...

That minuscule 250 Watt PSU rings alarm bells for me!

The Standard 320 Watt PUS in my Dell Dimension 5000 Tower severely restricts any up big upgrades for me!
I am restricted to a low power nVidia GF 9500GT PCIe Video card to prevent overloading of the PSU.
With my Pentium P4 dual-core 2.8 MHz Processor, it will run FS 2004 fine...but not FSX!...
...and I don't yet know about Flight!

Paul... Cool...!

Also be aware......
"ATI Radeon 4200 integrated"

Intergrated graphics shares memory with system memory. So, that 4 gigs is actually not that much when you consider that.

Sys + other Windows programs running in the bacground, +  Flight can = at lot of memory needed. So, keep that in mind.

I have an idea the the Integrated (Motherboard) Graphics can be disabled in BIOS, and replaced with a plug-in PCIe card if required....
...but a powerful Graphics Card would seriously load-up that little PSU!... Cry...!

Actually, it's 8 gigs and I plan on having a video card and more RAM installed by the release.  You are correct about the power supply.  I think it needs to go...

What do you mean? Whether you bought FSX in 2008 or in 2012, it's the same FSX...not going to run any better.

Its true!... Smiley...!

If you put a brand new FSX Gold CD in a 2-speed CD ROM Drive and run it at high speed, the game will run twice as fast.... Cheesy...!

...trust me!... Wink... Wink...!

Paul..... Smiley... Grin...!

Yeah, I'm thinking about 400 watts, but I'm not sure which one.

In the mean time, I did find a second monitor out in the garage, so I have a dual setup now.  Never seen onboard graphics that can support two monitors before.
