Well, on December 13th I and a few other people involved in MSFS, visited the Microsoft Games studios in Redmond to meet the MS Flight team, discuss the past and future and to experience and be told about the upcoming game. Impressive place I have to say. And a very professional team.


At this stage the information I learned is strictly confidential.

However in early January we will be will be given the go ahead to release more details.


... and DON'T ask the obvious questions! I cannot tell you! Period!  Smiley

He REALLY can't tell us anything, not even the mods. I personally respect his integrity for being a man of his word.

Those who know me know I'm nobody's lapdog ...  Smiley

The beauty of Simviation is we are dependent on no-one except our users and contributors. For that we need to keep you happy long term & it's what we try to do. No payware co's to keep advertising, not even MS. We are truly dedicated to the notion of virtual flight (& space travel) simulation. The future of this is amazing.

The MS Flight team are genuinely very professional. MS Flight Website - what they are telling us is what it, more or less, is. & remember it is clearly stated this is not a progression of the previous MS Flight Simulator series. Quote:

I agree, I think it's a really good sign that they're letting people like Pete in on the development of the new sim, and I'm really looking forward to hearing what he has to say about it! Smiley

There was a job application many months back looking for someone to lead the development of an SDK for Flight. After some hunting, I found the contents of the application:

• Contribute towards the overall test strategy and business direction of the team.

A great candidate should have the following skills and experience:
• Experience shipping high-quality software on-time and end-to-end ownership of a feature across 1 complete retail product release cycle OR multiple, more frequent releases of a smaller product, such as web experiences or an SDK.
• Exceptional testing skills and a firm understanding of testing methodologies.
• Demonstrable proficiency with C# or C++ with solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals
• Proven success in utilizing test automation frameworks to generate quality UI or API-level automated tests
• Hands-on knowledge of the overall product development lifecycle and software test engineering components.
• Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities
• Extreme passion for shipping quality computer games.

A BS or higher degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience with game engines, 3D Studio Max, Maya, Direct X, or SQL is desirable but not required.


This is also interesting, as it talks about modeling of the entire earth, which should clear up the hawaii only speculation.
