Did you read the requirements? ADE requires the freeware version of FSUIPC to be installed.

If you do have FSUIPC installed and still have connection problems, ask Jon for help in the official support forum at FS Developer:

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=95

Have you opened and read the extensive manual yet? There are other requirements for ADE to function, including dotNet Framework 3.5...

It doesn't make a lot of sense to connect to FS before a project is loaded which is why you need to start a project and then connect.  Why - well perhaps we are wrong but that would just place the ADE display somewhere or the other on the surface of the earth and then the user would need to load whatever was there afterwards.

We need to make the manual clear on that.  We are updating it now and I will make sure it is clear on the sequence of events for connecting to the sim.
