JC todayshorse... 4th November!!!
Welcome all to this weeks JC contest!
todayshorse
takes a seat on the judges bench this week,
and earned his spot with this shot :
And for the theme we’re going from "Cold War" to...
"The F14 Tomcat!!"
Judge todayshorse says:
"Lets see what you've got - im looking for something that portrays the size, power, and above all beauty of this brilliant aircraft. Anything goes!"
THIS WEEK'S OTHER RULES, please read for deadlines
1. There can be freeware & payware in the shots, Any Flight Sim, Any Version. Editing and composites are allowed!
2. You nominate one shot only, without image tags so the thread limit doesn’t get hammered. Or, if you prefer, a thumbnail of about 5 kb. IT CAN BE AN OLD SHOT if you don’t have time to create something especially for the comp, though original entries are encouraged. Post it in this thread, below.
3. Once an entry is submitted, it may not be changed or replaced with a different one. This is to keep the confusion to a minimum, and to maintain forum integrity. Entries may be withdrawn from the contest, but no additional entries from that member will be accepted.
DEADLINE for submission of shots is 8 PM EST on Fri 4th of November,
4. The judge will choose which shot is best and tell myself as soon as possible "please try to remember"
DEADLINE FOR JUDGE TO INFORM : 'once the judge has made up his/her mind!!'
THE WINNER IS THE NEXT JUDGE!
And, your winning shot goes into the Personal Portfolios!
5. The winner should decide on the next competition, and tell me by (INSERT RANDOM DAY HERE), send four pics, plus a short text to describe the competition and what they are looking for.
6. This is for fun, so just post whatever seems to you to fit the rules.
It might be an idea to check out our Judge's work, see what he likes....
Good luck to all, thanks for looking, and dont forget to spread the word about this competition!!
Cheers, good luck all, Deano

Your talking about Dino's native FSX F-14, right? Have a look around, there are plenty of paints out there. I have around 20.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The F-14 Tomcat, the dogfighting Cold War fighter jet immortalized in the movie "Top Gun," made its ceremonial final flight Friday in a display that suggested the timing was right for retirement.
Pilot Lt. Cmdr. David Faehnle and radar intercept officer Lt. Cmdr. Robert Gentry gave a final salute from inside their cockpit before aircraft no. 102 taxied down the runway and out of sight at Oceana Naval Air Station.
The plane that actually took off as thousands applauded and whistled, however, was aircraft no. 107, with Lt. Cmdr. Chris Richard at the controls and intercept officer Lt. Mike Petronis in the back seat.
The first jet had mechanical problems - "a common occurrence with the F-14," said Mike Maus, a Navy spokesman. The second jet had been on standby just in case.
Before the flight, Adm. John Nathman, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command and a former F-14 pilot, said the retiring jet with the moveable, swept-back wings was "sometimes tough to fly" and tough to fix - but it was resilient.
"The legacy of this aircraft is not the 'Top Gun' movie," Nathman said. "The legacy is found in America's commitment to win the Cold War."

Awesome theme.....good luck to all
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

"Warning
yellow
... weapons hold"
http://www.simviation.com/phpupload/uploads/1319484060.jpg
CDR Joseph Bernard Connelly and CDR Leo F. Enright were in F-14 AC207 (AC was the tail code for VF-32 Swordsmen) and LT Hermon C. Cook III and CDR Steven Patrick Collins were in AC204. At 11:50 the two aircraft were informed by a Grumman E-2 Hawkeye Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft that four Libyan MiG-23 Floggers had taken off from Al Bumbaw airfield near Tobruk. The Tomcats turned for an intercept, the first two MiGs were 50 km ahead of the rear pair. The common procedure at the time was to acquire and lock the enemy aircraft with the Tomcats powerful AWG-9 radar, a maneuver that generally ended with the enemy aircraft reversing their course and avoiding an engagement. The Tomcats locked the Floggers from 72 nautical miles away. The Tomcats then turned away from the head-on approach, thus indicating to the Floggers they do not wish to engage in combat.
The two Libyan MiGs changed their course and gained speed. They accelerated to 870 KTS (1,600 km/h) and were on an intercepting course, heading towards the two Tomcats. The Tomcats descended to 3,000 feet with their radars still tracking the Floggers. Due to the low altitude of the Tomcats, the Flogger pilots had no clear radar image of the Tomcats. This diving and climbing maneuver was executed four times, hoping the Floggers will be intimated and reverse heading.
“Warning Yellow weapons hold” was heard over the radio at 11:59 meaning the Tomcats were authorized to fire if threatened. The order to arm the Sidewinder and Sparrow missiles was given by the lead Tomcat’s RIO (Radar Intercept Officer). You can clearly hear him say “Master arm on, Master arm on” followed by “Bogeys have jinked back at me again”. At a range of 14 miles AC207′s RIO launches an AIM-7M Sparrow, surprising his pilot. “Fox 1 Fox 1″ was heard over the radio. The missile failed to track so a second missile was launched “Fox 1 again”.
The Tomcats split. As the lead tomcat was circling to get a tail angle, the wingman engaged a Flogger with a Sparrow. The words “Good kill! Good kill!” and “Pilot ejected” can be heard over the radio. The last Flogger is shot down by the lead Tomcat using a Sidewinder missile. Both pilots were seen safely ejecting their planes. They were however lost at sea. The Tomcats set course for home, after one pilot broadcasts over the radio “Let’s get out of here.”
No future Libyan MiG-23s ever engaged another U.S. Navy F-14 Tomcat.

Amazing!
The blurlike softness is simply AMAZING!!! Perfectly smooth!
And absolutly wonderfull story. Sounds like the libyans got smart after that.
Don't mess with the Americans. Or their military.
Was it a real engagement or a fictional one for the shot?
