Should never have been running on this track, and certainly not with that many cars. Sad Undecided

Astounding that only one driver was killed. I now that Indy and F1 cars are built like brick sh#t houses, but when you watch the footage...... Not sure if he was unlucky or the rest just plain lucky.

"Extreme Sports", Alex... Wink..!

It always amazes me that some folks take up the sort of sports/activities that are more than likely to end their lives well before their time.

They are certainly a different breed..(to me!)... Wink...!

Paul.

As life-long Motorcyclist, I would rather not watch high-speed, bum-clenching, motorcycle racing!

That was probably the worst crash I've ever seen. And I was watching it live. Very sad to see, you just knew someone wouldnt make it out of that crash alive.

The 5 lap tribute was heart-wrenching, but a very classy thing to do.

I think if they put bumpers over the rear wheels, that would prevent cars from becoming airborne when they run into the back of another car. in 2012 there will be all new cars, so maybe this will be part of it.

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

I too was watching live and was not at all "fooled" by the announcers saying that ".....the tarp is over the car to keep the pieces together....." minutes after the carnage was in the process of being cleared.

I find it truly amazing that there was only one fatality as bad as that crash was.  From the drop of the rag it seemed it was only a matter of time before something bad happened.

Too many cars too close to each other at too high of a speed.  While I don't profess to have some sorta recipe for how that sorta thing would work, the wreck was set to happen from about the second lap in my opinion.

For 14 of the 15 wreck victims all the safety equipment did its jobs to varying degrees.

It appears that the catchfence was Dan Wheldon's ultimate nemesis.  He hit it at about the only aspect angle where it would not have made any difference how much other safety equipment there was.

Race In Peace Dan!  You went out doing something that you love.  And your colleagues showed what is arguably the best show of class and respect that I have ever seen in the 30+ years I've been a racefan!

I went through quite a few tissues, and so did my wife.
