what exactly does midi do? , I recently have a keyboard Yamaha ypt310 and I was wondering ,is this midi can connect a keyboard and the computer and perform another different sounds? having as and output the sound card of a PC?

  Example: If I wish to play Babe from Styx using this sound of and old Roland which originally was play by Dennis D.Y in 1978 old Roland VR-760, is it possible I can "Emulate this same Sound using this Midi thing in my PC?

My involvement with keyboards does not include MIDI aspects, so I can't be of much help here, I'd rather spend my time playing rather than dealing with tech that I may never use, however, knowing MIDI basics is always a good idea if you have the time.

It's too complicated for simple, straight forward answers here, but Fozzer has a start on that.

I'm just a Learner Paul and Apex  I just had the piano for a litle more than a month but i'm very surprise how easy turn out to be for me a 46 Year Old man ,you know..Kids learn faster and have a way better memory , Maybe because I being playing the guitar since I was 12

  so far I have 3 songs in my repertory (LOL)

I said Hmm what this is midi about ,then I start to look around but  didn't understand so well  but at one point I said to my self what if that midi is about and interface that It can output different sound (silly Me)
