For "really" good freeware FSX copters, the choice is extremely limited, unfortunately :/
You should get following ones:
  • The Enstrom 280 by "eagle rotorcraft simulations". A small helicopter with very cool and easy to use virtual cockpit, good-looking external model (floats and skis) with nice textures are beatutiful blurred rotor effect.
  • the Super Puma by Dirk Fassbender. Excellent external model with a lot of repaints, excellent virtual cockpit with a lot of interactive buttons
  • the HC-21 Shawnee by Mick Posch, a bi-rotor vintage helicopter, with one of the best-looking virtual cockpits ever !
  • the BO-105 variations (military and others) by Dirk Struck, more or less same level of quality as the super-puma.

There are other helicopters which are quite good but not on the same level as the ones above. Some of them are in real native FSX format, like the OH-6 by Tim Conrad, or the S-55 by Alphasim (now freeware) and some others, but they have simplified avionics and physics. Most of the other copters are in FS9 format, which can lead to performance hit sometimes. Finally, some copters are good but incomplete. One of the most famous examples is the Bell 412 from HoverControl.org, fine model, good instrumentation, good realism, but only usable from 2D panels, because the VC is not clickable. But if you are a 2D pilot, then you should give that one a chance !

Yes, the world of FSX native helicopters is really limited. Most of the good ones are payware, and those would be by Dodosim and Cera Sim Aircraft. We (Eagle Rotorcraft Simulations) are working to expand the number of amazing freeware helicopters. We've got lots of upcoming/planned releases in FSX native format, including a Bell 222A with full start up/shutdown set up, as well as many different visual features.  Cheesy

By the way, I'm on it. Wink
Looks like a medium level paint.  I'd guess about 1-2 days for painting including tonight and then add on however long you think it will take you to test it sinceI don't have an official FSX tester yet.

And yes, I do do aircraft repaints.  It's pretty much all I do with my life latly except hang around thes forums. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy  You could definatly call me a geek. Cheesy

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that the 1-2 days was for the Dutch Police EC-125.  I don't know how long yet for the Blackhawk.

Here's what I'll use.  It's not a link but here's the title and description and whatnot.

UH-60 Blackhawk Package Inclusive (Category: FSX Helicopters)
27.28 Mb
UH-60 BlackHawk Package Inclusive. Troop Transport/Standard/Auxillary Fuel tanks With VC modified for FSX, additional sounds, hover gauge included making hovering and landing easy. US Army and Desert Sand Textures. VC now includes FSX gauges. Used real panel image for guide. Original FS9 model by Hovercontrol/Jordan Moore. Modified for FSX by Danny Garnier.

Just found something out you might like.  The blackhawk package I mentioned comes with a coast gaurd paint pre-installed in the download, it just doesn't mention it. Wink

Also, that EC-135 is turning out a bit harder than I thought, so there might be a slight quality decrease, but I'm still going full throttle to make it look as good as possible. Wink It's almost like they blurred it then sharpened it. Huh Tongue

On an off note, If you like Coast Gaurd, I've got a default FSX CRJ700 that's been waiting to be tested for about a month if you want. Wink
