Hey there!
I joined to make a request, or at least to put some atention to my point. Her goes!

Couldt the developers of aircraft please put in a little word about there products abilities towards DX10.
Its so frustrating to download and look forward to flying all kinds of beutifull aircraft, only to find out that they appear completly white, due to noncompetible with DX10. Not to mention the time and effort it takes to uninstall them again.
It is a mystery to my why anybody wouldt want to make stuff that is noncompetible with DX10, since its so obviosly better, but as long as its done please put in a little notice saying: Not working with DX10. As easy as that!
Please don´t take this personal, I´m all gratefull to all of those who wants to share there work. I just think that its a very little effort that goes into this "Dx10warning", that it wouldt be no problem to make it. Smiley

Hi pedemeyer,

The DX10 preview in FSX is very flawed, and doesn't offer much more for many users except for an FPS boost and cockpit shadowing. This is likely the reason that some developers don't try their add-ons in DX10. (there are very mixed opinions about the DX10 preview, as everyone has a different experience, it seems)

Now, I don't think that any FSX native add-ons have  visual problems in DX10. It's only FS9 models with cfg, texture, and misc other updates brought into FSX and rereleased and said to be FSX compatible that have display issues with DX10. Nothing can be done about that other than updating and recompiling the original model using the FSX SDK.

Hej and thanks for responding:)

I agree that native FSX addon airplanes does not have the same issues all the time, but yet again.., some of the best freeware addon airplanes I have did not come as "native" fsx so...
And today theres a beutifull P51 on display for download, and once again..., completly white!  Cry
It wouldt have saved me (and many others I belive) the time spend downloading, installing, finding out, and uninstalling, if the little message" Not working with DX10" had been added to text. Not a big thing I believe, because the text was there anyway. Just 4 words  Wink

If an add-on says 'FSX Native' or 'Made with the FSX SDK' then that should be like it saying "DX10 Compatible." If it does not say this, I'd start to wonder about it. Also, if you really can tell the difference between the reflections on an FS9 aircraft and an FSX aircraft, (or the lighting/shading) then you can sometimes look at the thumbnail images and tell if it is FSX native or not. (that's my method, and if you don't know what to look for, then it's a useless method)

Cool

You want a warning?  Ok, lets back up... What's DX10?
A lot of us "developers" are self taught.  It goes something like this... starting with the 3D program, are there any tutorial...start reading, damn, "I have to wade through this huge SDK?  Then "learn flight dynamics?"  Now what... texture mapping?  Then make a Paint Kit!?!  Back up - LOD F%^&*K  Holly shit, "you mean now I have to design insturment?"  where does this end?  This was supposed to be a little side project to make a fun aircraft... 3 years later, now you want me to read yet another manual for a free aircraft that I wont even get a penny for, and man oh man, you have the nerve to ask for a warning about something called DX10?  Get a life, SHIT  "maybe I should get a life".

This is internetcomunication at its worst.

Dickert: Please, I´m not your vife:)! Did I tell you to get a life? Did I talk to you in a unpolite way? No! So If you feel bitter, don´t take it out on the internet.
(Whats with the Canadien anger managment? I Just saw a tvprogram about Canadien road anger, wow!
I must say it goes well with your profile-picture...)

Garryrussell: "is it too much trouble for you?"
No, its not a lot of trouble to take D10 off. Its just a clik. But my pc runs FSX so much better with it on, so it wouldt be like going back to do that.
(And again.., why this hopeless attempt to make enemies.)

I just asked a question!

ADMIN: Please close this angry and sad thread! Shocked

FS9 aircraft used in FSX simply cannot use DX10. Period.

FSX aircraft used in FSX can use DX10.

It really is that simple.
