I did watch the game. I was trying to write a little pun, since we were supposed to lose. Oh, well. Sad

After the US was gifted with that goal - it was assumed that England would exact revenge and more in the second half but the underdogs held on - close, a few times, but no cigars.  Hopefully, there's a behind the net video showing the flight of the mishandled goal shot.  They say that new ball swerves - maybe that was a factor.  And how about those 'Vuvuzelas' - South Africa's gift to the world of soccer  Smiley.

Sounds like a swarm of bees in the pitch. Grin

They keep complaining about the new ball and the players and goalies hate it. Actually today a goalie was in tears for the new ball but adidas said its the most accurate ball ever produced... Grin Roll Eyes

Some good games today, Watched Germany crush Austrailia 4-0. The Serbia and Ghana game was good at the end also. A serbia player did an intentional hand ball on a corner kick for Ghana which resulted in a penalty kick for Ghana in the 83rd minute. Ghana scored and won the game 1-0.  Cheesy As for Algeria v Slovenia (England and U.S. were hoping for a draw between these two) but Slovenia won and took the lead in Group C which put England and U.S. in a tough position.

African countries are notriously unreliable, Japan winning is a small shock perhaps but really it was a 50-50 chance game beforehand.

Italy not winning is the bigger shock indeed though not much was expected from the Italians. At least here in Europe.

Today holds two interesting matches... Ivory Coast vs Portugal and The Brazillians vs the unknown North Koreans..... I expect the last match to be  a brutal slaughter of the Korean side....

Well, that was unexpected.
2-1 to Brazil, one of the best teams in the world; against one of the worst in the world, well done North Korea for that.

In the 89th minute, I think Brazil was just kindof done...a 2-0 lead is pretty much locked for a win.

Well done to New Zealand in scoring there goal with less than a minute left in the game, first ever world cup goal for them and taking a win from Slovakia. As for the Ivory Coast and Portugal game, I saw the first half and Ivory Coast was doing very well. A good draw against Portugal.

Overall-good day of soccer/football Cool

Oh and if you didnt hear, FIFA will NOT ban the vuvuzela's.....thankfully.  Wink FIFA gets it although im not sure how noone else does. No matter what even if its annoying its part of the South African Soccer. Its just something they do in South Africa, otherwise they shouldn't have had the World Cup there. If you talk to some soccer analysts they think that its part of the game. Other countries have other ways to make noise and it could or could not be annoying. When you pack a house full of 90,000 fans its just stupid to say that nothing will annoy someone. Either way something will annoy someone and for the soccer players to complain seems stupid also. If you play soccer around the world, how can a noise distract you?  Roll Eyes Countries have so many ways to express noise whether its annoying or not. They should be thankful they are playing in the World Cup, not finding ways to make excuses as to why they play bad.  Grin

...although the soccer ball on the other hand....I think that's an okay excuse since it seems almost all the soccer players are complaining about it.
