I'll agree with it based on the original evidence posted.
But from here on out we go with the idea that I thought was originally intended with the 3 grid 3 result idea.
Damn we've become the FIA lol.
Shane throw your 5 points back on.

If that's how it was intended, then it really was just my bad interpretation of the rule.  Wink

I'm not one to play Briatore here.  Grin

It was only 5 points, and this is just a game.  Smiley

Shane keeps his points.....

Eno's original post

I don't think the top 6 is a good idea ......... However I did make the suggestion at the end of last season to give extra bonus points if you match
exactly
the top 3 on the grid after qualifying... irrelevent of the finishing position in the race.

I think in one race last season I had as my prediction the exact grid position but the race finished in a completely different order.

eg Grid 123 = Hamilton, Massa, Alonsso = 5 bonus points for the exact match of all 3... but the race might finish Massa, Hamilton, Alonsso giving 20 points for the race. Alternatively none of them might finish but you still get the bonus points. Disqualification and grid penalties will make the bonus void and with some penalties being held till the next race  the predictions for that race will have to take into account that penalty in order to get the points .

I'm not sure you understand lads...

Pick the top 3 on the PODIUM only, ie the race positions. If the qualifying finishes the same as your race predictions you pick up a bonus of 5 points.

Making 2 different selections for qualifying and the race will only complicate things.

Over to you Craig...

OK, to clarify. Pick who you think will finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If they line up on the grid in that order you get a 5 point bonus... even if they all crash at the first corner.

Rob has got it ........... and yes it will be a rarity ....... especially if you have to take into account grid penalties held over from the previous race. However I think this season it will be less of a rarity because of the lack of refuling. Hence the reason I suggested it  Grin

Ergo ....... if you get the 123 for both quali and the race it's 35 points ....... if you only get the 123 for quali it's 5 points ....... etc.

It's all so clear now.  Grin  Wink

That will make the bonus a little more special when it does occur.  Cool

This clearly says that if you predict the top 3 quali you get 5 points, whilst the race scoring system is maintained from last year....

I won't argue with three people.  Grin  Wink
I've re-added the 5 points.

Should we drop the bonus idea from here on,
or just continue with the understanding now that :

If your picks are the top 3 qualifiers,

and they finish the race in that same order,

then you get the 5 bonus points.

I'm good for either way.  Smiley

I don't see what was wrong with the original idea....we all agreed with it in March.

So I propose we continue with 5 bonus points if you predict top 3 quali, and the old scoring for the race. So if you pick three drivers who come 123 in quali and race you get 35. If you pick three drivers who come 123 in quali, but all crash in the race, you get 5 points.

I'm saying it should be the 3 and 3 personally. That was how I thought it was going to be when originally suggested. Thus making it extra benificial to get all 3.
I'll leave it open to a vote though. Either way we need a final answer before Germany or it gets scrapped altogether. Wink

But the original intension was that it should act as a consolation to anyone who managed to predict grid 123 but perhaps not the final three....

Vote is probably the best bet....

I can't see the confusion here lads. We're predicting the final classified top 3 in the race. If our picks HAPPEN to qualify in the same order you get a 5 point bonus. The rest stays as it is.

It's not rocket science.

Saying it like that, makes it mean what you & Craig have been thinking it should be...

That's where the confusion is for me.  Wink

If we go by what you said before the season started, I get the points,

If we go by what you said above, I don't.

Why?

I thought I made it quite clear. We're NOT picking the qualifying 1-2-3. If our RACE tips happen to be the grid there's your bonus 5 points... even if all 3 picks crash in the race.

I know we're not picking the qualifying order, I haven't been trying to do that at all.  I just got lucky this week and happen to do that.  Wink

I have a rough enough time just trying to pick a finishing order that I can be happy with.  Grin

In the one way, it sounds like they have to start and finish in the 123 spots to get the 5.

In the other way, it sounds like you get the 5 as long as you called the starting 123 spots, irrelevant of how they finish.

One is conditional, the other is conciliatory.
