Does anyone know anything about the "Aurora" spy plane that supposedly is based at Area 51.
It is supposed to do about Mach 6+ and fly at the edge of space.
Here are some links about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_%28aircraft%29

http://www.fas.org/irp/mystery/aurora.htm

http://www.area51zone.com/aircraft/aurora.shtml

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread60763/pg1

This spy plane was supposed to replace the SR-71 "Blackbird" (which suddenly went out of service in 1998.)

According to some sources, the project was cancelled due to cost.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Well, first of all, that is a dud link. This is the correct one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_%28aircraft%29
And I think it is still in service, the US still needs strategic recon.

One way of looking at it, the USA has never retired a spy plane before a new one is up and running.
