Since I recently wanted to test a few things, naturally my PC has decided it cannot communicate with the 108. Roll Eyes Re-installed software, disconnected all other USB devices (including the KEAD6, which is working fine)... no joy.
Windows sees a connection ("Gee, thanks, Windows, for telling me I just plugged something in! I wouldn't have remembered, as that was all of three seconds ago..."), so I don't think it's the cable. But it won't work in FS9, or FSUIPC, or even the Hagstrom software.

If I look in device Mgr., I see about 30 unidentified USB devices on the list... absolutely no help at all ("Thanks, Windows!").

But unlike the initial install of this device months ago, the Hardware Wizard doesn't start up 1000 times... it doesn't start up at all. t
Times like this I realize a big part of the reason this project has taken more than two years: every time I try to make a large step forward I wind up wanting the chuck the computer out the window.  Roll Eyes   Grin

Any "Haggie" users out there who have seen this before?

Rottydaddy,

I have seen usb issues like this before when the computer suddely "loses" some of my Goflight units.  Mind you it does not lose ALL usb devices...and mind you that the System information ion Win XP does NOT show the little yellow warning that something is amiss (Thanks Uncle Bill!).

What fixes this issue is a cold reboot of the machine.  Then all is suddenly well.

Since the Haggie is a usb item........ try that.

best,

...............john

Cold reboot, different ports, etc... and now the KEAD6 also will not work. Interestingly, the Hagstrom software indicates it sees one EAD6, but it also tells me it is not there. Awesome.

I have a bad feeling I may have to do the old "plug it in at the precise moment during boot" thing... A few years ago another tech and I spent about 8 hours doing that with a USB keyboard before we got it to work.  Fun.

And of course what's most maddening of all is that this all worked just fine before, and absolutely nothing has changed.  Undecided

Nope. I know better. Grin  Haven't updated since before I was last playing with the 108.
But here's some good news: I was wrong about the KEAD6- a case of mistaken cable identity. D'oh. I hadn't labeled the USB cables coming into the electronics bay... gonna do that right now. Grin

I'll probably call Hagstrom Monday, maybe they'll have some ideas about the 108. Meanwhile, if this board is bad, that will set me back quite a ways, as a replacement is definitely not in the budget right now.  Undecided Ah, well.
It's a funny thing: so many times with this project, I've told myself "get off yer duff and go put some time into the simpit!" only to discover that I have to spend some more money... arrgh.
