Hi, I have just installed the Nvidia 9800+ graphics card (supplier PNY) and with latest driver 182.5 installed, both MCFS3 and also Battle of Britain Wings of Victory ll exhibit incorrect mapping of skin tiles. In MCFS3 I could see instrument panel skins in the sky, the ground had fields with aircraft skins on them, some fields were pure white, back at base the 109E was all over light blue and trees had light blue squares. Similar effects in BoB2 with sky having square panels featuring artwork that was for explosions, aircraft skin took on the field skin, fields featured aircraft skins, instrument panel became brickwork etc.
Flying IL2 Forgotten Battles all was well. BoB2 and MCFS3 are Direct3D whilst IL2 is OpenGL.
Users report the previous driver 182.08 as ok.

Has anyone the 9800 or 9800+ and how is it for you with the latest driver ? What driver are you with ?

Is there anything I should alter settings wise to fix this or is truly driver related as it seems to be ?

If you're still here, it might be best to repost this in the Hardware section.

That might get you some responses.

I have the EVGA 9800GTS+ version and can not run any version of CFS3. I will have to put an upgraded ATI card in my smaller PC to run CFS3.

Old technology is simply ignored when making new cards and this 9800 screams with newer games
Even SH3, while looking very well mostly has some issues like the otherwise great sky has watercolor variations but the water looks super

Sorry, no help just hoping someone comes up with something as I have tried 4 different drivers, all the same

I built a rig recently with a 9800GT 512MB card. CFS3 runs really nicely on it, including MAW and ETO expansions, as does FS9 at 1680x1050x32bit.

Thanks guys so far, thats a fail for two of us, one that will not know, and one that is ok.
I had an ATI but it gave water for fields in BoB2, took ATI 6months to fix on their gamer cards, I get a pro card and fix came with next driver, but had Vsynch problems in cockpit panning etc. Had hoped Nvidia top of the range gamer was better, it had to be ok for my 3D prog and also ok for sims.
Nvidia have a new driver out now they (card supplier) tell me, I asked if it was with a fix as it didnt take long and the timescale between reporting these issues in MCFS3 and BoB2 to them and the release was quite short and most welcome. It is not claimed to be a known fix but to try it.  Undecided
I shall also post this on the hardware section, being new to the forum I didnt spot that area.  Roll Eyes
Let me know please Wulfmann if this latest driver works for you.

Cheers

I had an Nvidia 8600 that gave me strange tile problems.
But I'll tell you what really is at the route of most graphics glitches - an underpowered power-supply.
Get a power-supply double what they recommend, and you might be in with a chance. It solved all my problems.

Hi, I have a 750W PSU and thats a lot more than is required for what I am running, to go double, they dont make such , 1200W  !

Definite driver issue. sounds like a BoB2 player has latest driver now and all is ok.

This one is 1250w:

I believe my new one is around 1400w.
I used to think my old 450w was enough. But it wasn't.

Turns out it was not the EVGA9800GTS+.

I put in a ATI 4830 (around the same level as my 9800) and it does the same thing.

I thought maybe it was 10X so I uninstalled the ATI and put a smaller EVGA 7300 card (9X) in and it still shakes the game.
I reinstalled the ATI (fits better) and moved the 9800GTS+ to my email PC where it does not shake the game.

The game PC is an AMD2 whereas the email PC is an AMD, the older 939 socket 64bit Dual Core with 2 GB PC 3200 DDR400 RAM.

I have no problems with other games on the AMD2 6000, 3.1GHZ, 4 GB DDR3 RAM.

Anyone else figure out anything???
