The launch customer, ANA, wants 15 frames starting late in 2013. Mitsubishi offers to build planes as early as 2012 if any subsequent customers want them.

The plane itself can be seen at

http://www.mrj-japan.com/

Short specifics: cabin interior width 264 cm, wingspan 30,9 m.

This also launches Pratt and Whitney geared turbofan.

I'm more interested in how this will work out. CRJ, ERJ, MRJ... who will get the most orders? Man... if only MDD was around, then we could have Boeing, Airbus  AND Douglas, that would be cool. Smiley

Also, I wonder how Pratts baby is coming along. I hope they make an engine as successful as the JT8D. Smiley

To just prove how origional Mitsubishi is, go look for pics of their F-2, it looks amazingly similar to something we have.

The F-2 was never designed to be a new aircraft - it IS essentially a Japanese assembled F-16.... 40% of the work is done by Lockmart... With that logic we could call Boeing un-original for the Super Hornet, 737NG, 747-400, 747-800... or, Lockheed Martin unoriginal for the SR-71, & IDF Block 52+ F-16s. Oh yeah, you could also add India, Australia to the list, as they have indigenously assembled the Su-30 & F-18 respectively. Roll Eyes

See:

http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2009/09/09/332045/aa09-mitsubishi-unveils-m...

The plane remains unfrozen for another ten months, and EIS is delayed into 2014. Composite wing is dumped and replaced by aluminum one. The fuselage is also changed, expanding cabin height from 198 to 204 cm and width from 269 to 276 cm. A stretch variant shall be added.

They got it right the first time around with the Tri-motor. After that there was no point in continuing Grin
