Decision made. Thanks to all those who applied! Applications closed ... Smiley

OK> We had a lot of very kind people offering to join the team & help keep this place one of the best forums on the Internet! SINCERELY appreciated! (Won't be forgetten either!!)

There were several runners up but in the end it has come down to

ROTTYDADDY (Sean) (US)
CHARLOTTESDAD (Rob)
(Eu)

Global location was also a significant factor.

Once again thank you to all of you who offered. And hang on in there - this is an ever changing world!  Cheesy

Hi Guys!

OK with the passing of time we now require some more help keeping this place friendly, fun and moving in the right direction.

Put it another way - we could do with an additional moderator or 2 Smiley

Here a few of the qualities & requirements of a moderator

  • 1st it should be emphasised there is NO PRESSURE! It should be fun! You don't need to be here more than you naturally are anyway. It's just when you visit you have the option & power to modify. (+ you are given keys to the dungeon - the Admin forum !   Smiley )

The idea of moderators is to help make these forums a fun & friendly place for all visitors & members. This means the emphasis should be on helping the forum rather than policing.

If things get out of line, such as arguing, , judgment is required to lock the thread, remove an offensive post, etc. We generally discuss this down in the dungeon so you have plenty of support.

You have plenty of support from the other seasoned mods who know the ropes so again no pressures whatever.

You need to have a mature & reasoned approach to life.

You need to be prepared to take a middle road where people have differing opinions. The role of a moderator is not to take sides but to try to ensure respect for other members. The freedom to hold differing beliefs must also be respected. (It's fairly easy most of the time & this is why we discourage (not ban) people from talking religion or politics here)

If you think you may like to get involved please PM

Me Dave or Mark

Thanks!  Smiley

Could we recommend people to you?

Hello EGNX.
Thanks, but not worth it.
We have all recommended people in the Admin forum in the past only to ask them and have them surprisingly say no.

This is something that the individual needs to ask themself.

If we start getting recommendations, this thread will become a list of names that need to be filtered through.
Please, of you are interested in being a Mod, PM one of us so we can see who steps forward and who would be most qualified.

Thanks,

Dave

Yes, and the person you mention was considered and maybe even asked...
Did not happen.

That is why recommending people does not work.

I wouldn't mind doing that but I probably wouldn't be because I am a wee bit young.

Shame...Now what

We asked that person over 6-months ago so it is not really "now what".
We will see who contacts us and go from there...
