...LOL........Paranoia it WAS for me..........but as I have said elsewhere support for SP1 is to end from next week so I'm afraid that means no more security updates etc for that..........I once said NEVER but there is a saying "NEVER say NEVER" and it has come round to me Grin

Must say I studied the hints and tips for a couple of hours and also got advice from guys on SimV and I had no problems whatsoever apart from merely disabling the new firewall in favour of the one I am using now............go for it lads ......have no fear...FSX is here......commoner Wink

Obviously your computer doesn't seem to like SP2. Did you try doing a complete clean out of your system and directly installed SP2 on a fresh computer?

I got SP2 when it was released. A little icon said update avaliable in my taskbar and I pressed it and before I knew it I had SP2. I wasn't happy at the time what with not having the choice, but as I was two lazy to remove it I just went through windows and disabled it's more pushy features and havn't looked back since.

As N4gix said in many other posts, people who wants to upgrade to SP2 must not forget that after installing SP2, there are A LOT OF OTHER UPGRADES to install from windows update.
so after installing SP2, a few (not only one) reboots and updates ARE necessary to get an up-to-date system.
