V-RAF is a military VA that follows the RAF as close as flight simulator will let us. We fly a fun and friendly environment so our members get the best experience they can out of flying online with a military VA.

We have a wide range of members in our org, we get pilots joining with no experience or very little and pilots with vast flight sim experience, from young to old. All our members are happy to help with any problems another member has so that we can solve the problem and they can carry on or start there career with V-RAF.

On V-RAF we operate the current aircraft and Sqn`s

•      Joint Harrier Force – The JHF operates the Harrier GR9 + T10 and also the Sea Harrier FA.2 + T8. Its current role is Recon, Ground Attack and close air support.

•      17(R) Sqn (OEU) – 17(R) Sqn operate the Typhoon T1 and F2 and are currently undergoing heavy testing on the typhoon.

•      111 Sqn – 111 Sqn Operate the Tornado F3 and is the main Air Defence Sqn on V-RAF.

•      617 Sqn – 617 Sqn Operate the Tornado GR4  and work with the JHF in the Recon, Ground Attack and close air support role.

•      Joint Helicopter Wing – The JHW acts in a number of different roles from SAR to troop transport. The JHW operate a number of aircraft, these being
            o      Puma
            o      Sea King
            o      Chinook
            o      Lynx
            o      Apache
            o      Gazelle
Also in the training role they operate:
            o      Squirrel
            o      Griffin

•      70 Sqn – 70 Sqn is V-RAF Heavy transport Sqn. The carry out all of V-RAF`s heavy transport capabilities. They operate the C-103 Hercules and the C-17 Globemaster

•      101 Sqn – 101 Sqn is V-RAF`s refuelling and passenger transport Sqn. They operate the VC-10 and the Tri-Star

•      Waddington Intelligence Wing – Also knows as WANDIT they are V-RAF`s main source of all intelligence. They Operate the E-3 Sentry and the Nimrod, we Also have plans to introduce the Sentinel

•       19(R) Sqn – 19(R) Sqn is V-RAF`s advanced training Sqn which operate the Hawk T Mk 1a

•      45(R) Sqn – 45(R) Sqn is V-RAF`s heavy aircraft Sqn which operate the King Air

•      72(R) Sqn – 72(R) Sqn is V-RAF`s basic Fast jet Training which operate the Tucano T1 and the Grob Tutor

•      100 Sqn – 100 Sqn is V-RAF`s Aggressor sqn. They are used in the training role and also in the operational role. This is a Closed sqn and you must be picked to join, The identity’s of 100 Sqn pilots are Kept secret so that it makes flying against them more interesting

In addition to our main Sqns we also have a number of other activities

o      V-RAF Red Arrows -  we have our own very own red arrows display team, any member in V-RAF can apply to join for this and is one of the most fun challenges you will ever come across.

o      Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight – we have our very own Battle of Britain Memorial Flight which meets once in a whist to do some BBMF Flying, we also do Flypasts in close formation on Important days in History

o      Gliding School – We have our very own gliding school in V-RAF where once ever month we like to get together and do a bit of gliding at on of our airfields.

o      British Jet Heritage Flight – The BJHF is once every month and one night we pick a theme, EG World War 2 and we will all go up in WW2 aircraft and have a bit of fun
