Hi all,
I installed some freeware scenery for Italy (Sicily, Calabria, Campania and North Italy). When I fly from Calabria to North along the Western coast of Italy, my fs crash and a message appear telling me that a module got an error and crashed. This happen always in the same area.
Flying to Venice (Venezia) from West, FS crash also.

Someone knows why?

Hi Sal. It seems logical to me that the problem is caused by the Italy scenery you installed. Either there's a bug with it or you didn't install/activate it correctly. I suggest you deactivate it & try again. If there's no crash or error message you found the cause of the problem.

I don't know how experienced you are with installing addon scenery. It should be easy enough to dectivate areas for troubleshooting if you activated it via the Scenery Library. You might like to read my FS98 Scenery Clinic. http://www.simviation.com/lair/FS98sc.htm

Hope this is some help.

Thanks Hagar
I deactivate the scenery and FS is Ok.
I know your scenery clinic and have installed sceneries for CFS and FS98 many times. Is it possible that I have to install the texture in the main texture folder instead of the texture folder of the scenery? The install instructions file says to install in scenery/texture but may be that it is wrong.

Bye.

It may yet be a while until Hagar gets to reply.
Anyway, the .bgl usually goes into the scenery file; textures may well go into the texture file (stock do in CFS1) but don't lose track of what's put in there or wipe out what's already there (although like names shouldn't have been used unless texture replacement is intended).

It's a long time since I installed any 3rd party scenery to FS98. I seem to recall that for some unknown reason some textures displayed better when installed to the main FS98\Texture folder rather than the Texture subfolder of the actual scenery area.* You could always try pasting them in there as this won't do any harm, any more than the Airport, VOD & other common 3rd party textures.

*I never knew why this should be but missing textures should not cause FS98 to crash. It's a very stable program, unlike the later versions of FS. I suspect there's some other problem with this scenery. If you tell me the page it's posted on maybe I can check it out for you. This might take a while as I'm temporarily offline at home so can't download any files for several days yet.
