Hi, i have a lot of pictures that i want to show to the viewers of these forums, but i understand that you have bandwidth issues, so i was wondering if it would be acceptable to put the images on the topic but using a different server (www.photobucket.com) to host the images for you, so eliminating your bandwidth problems and meaning i can display more than 500k of photos? Would I be able to do that?  ???

The reason for the 500K limit is for the many viewers still on Dial up. You can still get good quality from the limitations, and then offer up full sized shots through email.

Rules for posting images on Simviation's forums
Please keep all screenshots/images in JPG format & less than 100K.
Please keep all images within 800 pixels wide
Please keep PERSONAL avatars (logo under your name) less than 10K & 100 pixels wide
Please keep SIGNATURE images within 30K max.
Please do not post more than 500K total of files in any one thread.
Images not complying with these guidelines will be deleted.
Important : Do not link to these images from other sites. Members found doing this may be banned & images deleted.

Linking images to other sites opens up the doors for problems. Your host may be down, your host may have problems, your host may..... anything! The main issue here is keeping the forums flowing smoothly and if your link is experiencing problems, it will fall back on this site.

You can reduce any image to around 75kb and still have it look clear. Everybody does it, you just need to be patient and upload to this server.
Thank you for your cooperation!

I haven't got any spitfire photo's at the moment, but i'm going to Duxford tomorrow so i'll probably get some there, have you tried searching www.airliners.net, they usually have lots of good pictures. Also i havn't got any pictures of our RV6 yet, we need to get it out of the warehouse first and that will take ages with the amount of rubbish thats in there, but i will get some soon. Smiley

Hi - the issue is not bandwidth - it is just keeping the forums running smoothly .....    heavy threads make for poor performance ......

& like Fly2E says - outside links can cause many problems ...

Provided you keep each thread within 500K - post as much as you like in as many threads!  Cheesy
