Hey Guys,

I'm "livin' in the past" with this vintage GeForce MX400 of mine, i don't really know much about tweaking, well, frankly, nothing at all, so can someone help me, i want to tweak this MX400.

Main main questions are:

1. How? (duh)

2. Does this cost money?

probably wont cost $$, but look around for some freeware programs. you might be able to find something that will optimize the card better, but overclocking on a card like that isnt worth the time. i have an mx420 in one of my older PC's, looked into overclocking and decided to build a new PC instead.

OC'ing is generally an attractive option to those who already have a relatively fast computer, but want to take it just a little further.

If those are your specs, and you're not satisfied with the result, I'd suggest (like the others) upgrading.  Overclocking isn't going to bring you where you want to be.

The best tweak for any Geforce MX is a large hammer.......

For the cost, you'd be better selling it on e-bay and getting an FX5200 with some extra cash.

Period.

Don't expect it to overclock very far without expiring.  Wink

Sorry if I come off sounding a bit harsh, but MX400=JUNK!!
(former GF4 MX owner-DX7,blah blah). I agree, the best tweak for any MX is a butane lighter(BURN IT UP!!!)

I disagree.

I had an geForce4 MX440 in this PC about a year ago, and I overclocked the snot out of it. I think I nearly doubled both the RAM and GPU before it started making artifacts (after I put RAM heatsinks and active cooling on it, about 15 bucks for the above improvements). Now I imagine he has a GeForce2 MX400, and those overclock a little bit, other than that, you are mostly Sierra Oscar Lima.

Well I have a GF4 MX440 and yes I am upgrading to a 6800 this Xmas Grin but I OCd it and see great  improvements on FS. The stock clock speeds for it was 270/405 and I have so far tested it in FS at 305/445 with no artifacts. As always rember Overclocking any component of a computer coud make it go splat so becareful and if you do OC do it in 5 Mhz tests (I know its a small amount) and test it in games for a few hours or days and see if ts stable and not artifacting, if its not you may OC some more if it is artifacting go backwards.
