Help us, Please!

My buddy and I each own CFS1.  We want to fly against each other, and/or do missions together.  How do we link our computers to accomplish this?

We know about the MSN game zone, but specifically, we're having a problem with the multiplayer option of the program - the function that would allow us to link our computers together.

oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR, ALL!!!  Shocked

You can do an IP game if you don't want to go to the ZONE.

First, are either of you running a Firewall or on a home network using a router. If either of you are, you are going have to get into some complex issues of opening ports in order to play with each other either IP or on the Zone. If neither of you uses a Firewall or router, than an IP game between both of you is simple.

You will need a way to communicate with each other, like an IM program such as Yahoo messenger or AIM or MSN Messenger.

Both of you must go online. One of you will be the HOST. Fire up your game and click on Multiplayer. Get your IP nember and this you must give to your friend. He then enters this number into the IP area and click Search. It should, within a few seconds, list your game. He then clicks Join and there you go, you and your buddy will be together. The Host sets the options for flight and you both click READY and off you go.

Hope this helped you out. Good Luck.

Thanks for your help.  Unfortunately, though, I have both a firewall, and a router.  The firewall can be switched off, however.

I think my buddy has a firewall as well.  Could you still instruct us how to connect under these circumstances?

Thank you for you help.  Appreciate you assistance.
