This type of windmills is prone to falling over... with the stones and the sails on the same side of the structure, they tend to lose their top when they deteriorate too much. Lots of windmills in belgium met this fate

Unfortunately that appears to be true. I was told of a recently restored one that did just that just prior to my visit to this one. It was completely destroyed & doubful if it will be rebuilt. I don't remember where it was apart from the fact it was not local.
