I was flying - guess what - a microlight at Popham (near Basingstoke UK) today, and I thought you might enjoy these pics.

Very interesting. looks like you had a nice day for it. Wink
The little plane looks like a Tipsy Nipper. If I'm right it's a fairly old design going back to 1951.

Excellent weather - just a little bit windy, which made for a bumpy ride, and ... interesting takeoff and landing. Tipsy Nipper, eh. There was a Messerschmitt Taifun there too - did a couple of fast fly-pasts. Very impressive. Was the Taifun a pre-war or post-war plane? Any relation to the Me-109?

Great stuff. The Me 108 Taifun was a pre-war light aircraft, also used for liaison work by the Luftwaffe in WWII. According to the designation it precedes the Me (Bf)109. It's quite similar & often used to simulate its big brother in war films.

PS. The one you saw was most likely the Nord N.1000 "Pingouin" which was manufactured in France after WWII. I know there is at least one on the display circuit.
