I think the Cafe should become a live chat area and the subjects of the Discussion forum be opened a little wider for the overflow...

I think part of the proble with live chat is the available bandwidth, but I may be wrong.

Not bandwidth - processor power.

You really need a server dedicated to chat. For us to do that we'd need another machine .... Now who's willing
1. To fund the $1000 per month it would cost?  Grin
2. To administer it?  Grin

There are services out there that offer chat for groups ... I've never looked at them. There are other priorities (like cutting my fingernails...  Grin )

The chat question has come up before. The answer is always the same - don't ask me - go & find a solution because it's not something that interests me. I never use any form of internet chat - it's just not my kind of thing...  Wink

So if someone comes up with a solution for you, you'll consider implementing it?  Smiley

$1000 per month.

I can't get past that part........... Roll Eyes

That's like enough to pay for a PPL in 4 months and an ATPL in a year or so.

Oops!  I was confused LOL.

Still a better way of spending $34,000 than 34 months of live chat...

I don't think so .. . Remember, this is not something that tickles Pete's fancy ....

Also, he really is being nice.  Now, just imagine, with his baritone voice, he'll have all the female SimV visitors swooning, and our signigicant others won't let us have any SimV time - just to hear ... the Voice...

If you want chat, install MSN messenger and start chatting with other members. I chat with SimV members all the time on MSN.

Why would you want a chat room in the forums? You can almost chat live anyway 8)

Besides, with a chatroom you miss out on discussions if you're absent. Here you can still enjoy a discussion 2 years later Grin

Ok, I get the message.  From this day forward, I will no longer mention a live chat.  Smiley
