switching out AI (Read 500 times)

Have been trying to switch out AI- have AFCAD- which allows me to change a plane. I am trying to find a way to organize the aircrafts and line them up where I want them. It seems that FS just drops them in randomly according to size and what ever gate is open.
Even when I change some out and save it- close the program and reopen it- my changes are not saved.

Is there a way to line up planes and have them stay where you put them? Also when I try to bring in Helicopters- they seem to float at 90 degrees facing down rather than showing up on the tarmac. Has anyone else come across that?

Wish Bear,

I guess I'm a little confused by your question, but I'll try my best.............

You have been able to use add-on aircraft in the AI flight plans.  This tells me that you are using some sort of traffic editing program.  In regard to your changes not being saved, any time you use your traffic editing program to make changes to the Traffic.bgl file, whether it's a new flight plan, airport, or aircraft, you must always run the Compiler afterwards for the changes to take effect in fs2002.

You want to manipulate AI traffic so that it parks in specific locations.  This is what AFCAD is designed to do.  So if you haven't already, I suggest downloading the latest version of AFCAD.

In regard to the helicopters, I don't know which aircraft you are working with, but it may not be designed for AI traffic use.  I have avoided using helicopters in AI traffic altogether because they behave like fixed-wing aircraft rather than a helicopter.

Hope this helps!

Wish Bear,

There is another message thread here in this section labeled something like "cargo aircraft" ... that I replyed to in the last couple of days that explains how to get specific planes to park at specific places at an airport.

Check that out for the first part of your question.

As to the heli's standing on their noses...... THAT I've not experienced  ???.

best,
