Screwed Up My Flight Simulator !! Help! (Read 1535 times)

Over the past few days I have been downloading lots of aircraft for my Combat Flight Simulator. This morning I decided to clean out my "Airplanes" folder in CFS because I had several planes that didn't operate or fly well.
I think I must have deleted something out of my "Airplanes" folder that I shouldn't have because now I cannot start the engines of any of my planes in the "Free Flight" mode. I press "E" and the engine does not start on any of my planes. I also cannot go on any "Missions" or any "Campaigns" because I cannot get my plane engine to start. However, I can go to "Quick Combat" (where the plane is already in flight) and the planes fly fine.
What did I delete? Can anyone help me out here?
I don't have the cd for Combat Flight Simulator, it's installed and plays from my computer.
What can I do guys? How can I get this fixed?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hmmm. Are you using a pirate version? I would normally suggest Uninistall/Install. That fixes most problems with CFS1. I have no idea which files you deleted. Unless you can restore everything from the Recycle Bin you will need the CD.

Well, I'm back in business. I completely deleted Combat Flight Simulator, then I went out on the internet and found another place to download it. I downloaded the entire program again and everything is working okay now.
Now I have to go load it up with some more add on airplanes that I have found.
Incidentally, while I was looking for a site where I could download CFS, I also found European Air War. Is that a decent simulator?

P.S. - Ozzy, you asked me if I have a "pirated" version. Well, I guess it all depends on what perspective you have.
Look at MP3's as an example. If you ask the people who are downloading and uploading them, they will tell you they are sharing files. But if you ask the multi-millionaire record executives the same question they will call it "pirating."
So Ozzy, it all depends upon your perspective.

Well, I am not Ozzy but I'm sure he will tell you the same. You will get no help on this forum using a warez version of any M$ sim.

Hi Hagar, just saw this, and all I can say is that you are right. Ward will not be welcome here any more.
Also he is obvious denser than lead, as not only has he got an illegal copy of a game (when he could just have headed down to the shop and brought it for a whole $10 so), but he needs the help of people who have a brain!
oh and as you are so obviously destitute that you have to steal Ward I think that speaks VOLUMES!

> oh and as you are so obviously destitute that you >have to steal

So then, am I to assume that neither of you download or have downloaded any MP3'S....??
I have a sneaking suspicion that both of you have indeed downloaded MP3's....which (by your own standards) makes you thieves also.
And what's worse...not only are you also thieves, but you are hypocrites too. You point an accusing finger at me for "stealing" (downloading) a $10 game, while at the same time you are stealing hundreds of dollars worth of music.
First get the log out of your own eye and then you will be able to see clearly to get the speck out of mine.

Actually Ward that is a v.dumb accusation to make, as I have NEVER downloaded any MP3s, my taste in music is unlikely to appear on the net. I doubt there is much demand for classical.
So grow up! And don't abuse people here.

Hi Ward, I'll just underline what Hagar said - we simply don't support Warez versions of anything here for all kinds of reasons -
As Ozzy says - CFS is so cheap - you get a reliable version.

This site is concentrated on promoting & driving forth the hobby of VR flight - at the moment through MS flight sims - & warez is just not the way to go.

If it wasn't for piracy I believe the hobby would be 20% further on than where it is today.

We have all seen the reality of piracy as designer after designer has thrown in the towel & given up.

If you think it doesn't matter please use another site. If you are prepared to support the hobby & that means avoiding & fighting piracy - then you are more than welcome here.

Think Global. It's the world we live in.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about when you say that "designer after designer has thrown in the towel."
There is nothing to "design" with the software that is being shared on the internet.
Incidentally, my CSF didn't get messed up because I downloaded it from the internet. I messed it up by accidentally deleting some files that I shouldn't have while I was cleaning out my "aircraft" folder. To fix it I simply removed CFS and went out on the internet and downloaded and installed it again.
The CFS that I have is absolutely identical to yours. It wasn't "designed" by anyone...it was uploaded to the internet from a store bought MS-CFS cd-rom.
That's where the vast majority of this type of free software comes from. It's not "designed" by someone as a copy. It is uploaded to the internet from original store bought cd's of the software. It is uploaded there by people who are willing to share what they have.
Oh...by the way. To those of you who have told me that "no one out here" supports this free software. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but over the past day I have received several e-mails from people out here on this forum who have asked me how and where they can get such free programs...and I'm helping them out.
Incidentally...I just downloaded "European Air war" this morning and I'm in the process of getting CFS-3.

-Ward

Incidentally, here's my e-mail address again for anyone that might need any help or assistance.

However, I don't expect that it will be here for too long as Ozzy has been deleting some of my posts.

Actually Ward I deleted one as it was offensive and derogatory, and also slanderous.
