Many thousands of cars that were damaged by the storm are on the auction block. Many of them will be crushed for scrap.

That's a lot of cars. And to think there a probably a few very nice cars in there that may have no issues at all...

The thing is though, if the interior gets soaked with water, they get a horrible musty smell that's tough to get rid of. Years ago I used a garden hose to wash up the carpet in the back of a cargo van (dumb idea #782) and after a couple days it started smelling so bad I had to open the windows to drive it. Tongue

Like rotten swamp water..

The problem being, it was just water that you used. There were most probably billions of microbes in that carpet that had been waiting years for a nice drink to cultivate mutate and multiply Grin

Had you removed the carpet and shampooed it, then it would have smelt like new...........
