I know this doesn't apply to all youth, there are some very bright ones in our company here..

But, if you can't even get more than two of her questions right but you know where 5 malls are, something is wrong..

In the words of Lazy Boy and "Underwear Goes Inside The Pants":

"The schools now… It is all about self-esteem in the schools .
Build the kids’ self-esteem, make them feel good about themselves."

The rest is not so important any more..................

Unfortunately, I'm not that surprised about this, having been educated in a Public School.

Though it is a bit of a disgrace that they can’t even identify the Country they live in.

I’m not the brightest of blokes, but even I can identify Continents & Countries (though I am quite interested in geography). Wink

I'm personally not that amazing at geography but I still always pass with ease.
Then again,I looked through the book and I don't think we'll do that much on countries, more on volcanos, earthquakes, soil etc

Another important factor is the news. I have worked and holidayed in the USA on the East Coast and the West Coast over the last 25 years and the news is very, very inwardly looking. What is happening outside of the USA is not that important. I remember staying in Las Vegas. The news was all about how a skunk had "skunked" the door step of a local restaurant. I thought this article would never end. At the end, the Anchor said, "Now in other news, the war in Bosnia continues, and that was the news from (insert a huge amount of capital letters and a random number...... Grin)

My favourite subjects at school (1939-1950):

History.
Geography.
Geology.

Blaze...

I gave up long ago trying to figure out the inner workings of the female mind... Shocked...!

...and also, having lost the Instruction Manual many years ago, I now have great difficulty in trying to remember what to do with their various bits and pieces... Huh...!
(My knowledge of geography didn't help either).

Maybe I should take up fly fishing, instead?... Roll Eyes...!
