Quite a spread, I got a new fish cookbook at Xmas to help me expand my range of fish dishes. Gotta see the fish monger about some red mullet...

We actualy barely ever buy fish except sole,we usualy catch them.
We usualy catch these edible fish:
Cod
Haddock
Ling
Red Gurnard
Dab
Flounder
Mackeral(used to be by the dozens in July-august before the stupid trawlers)
Dogfish
And pretty much every other cod-like fish.
And bloody grey gurnard, damn spikey and disgusting.

Yes,it does look good for eel,but it's not wild,it's illegal to catch wild eel.

Salmon and trout all the way!
I prefer though to only eat what I catch, salmon that I caught myself seems to taste so much better

Yup,there is a major difference between wild and farmed salmon and trout.
Too bad the salmon here never wants to bite our bait. :/
And the trout only occasionally.

During salmon season in the rivers they get extremely aggressive. Normally during their run they do not eat, but they still bite out of aggression. So I take a spoon or Cleo and dance it right in front of their face until they get pissed off. Then you get salmon for dinner!
I have actually been directly attacked by a few! But once they hit my waders they turn around.
For trout, I like tying my own flies and fly fishing. Trout are very hard to get but with fly fishing and making your own flies you can get the best fly for the given conditions.

Excatly my experience of fishing salmon and trouts.
Salmon hunts for territories when going upwards, and any threats they will attack! Expecially at dawn and sun rise.
Trouts are more steadily and feeding are what you can see/catch in the stream. Fly fishing is a must, deep or high depense on the weather, and be sure the fish cant see you.
So down on your knees, and be sure you put the fly right!

For me...
....
Smoked Kippers: For Tea. Boil-in-the-bag, with fresh, crusty bread and butter.
Cod in Parsley Sauce: For Dinner. Boil-in-the-bag, with mashed potatoes and peas.
Battered Cod: For Supper. On a tray, in the Oven with Chips. (Tray in the Oven, not me in the Oven).
Breaded Fish Cakes: Any Time Snack, with a fried egg and bread and butter.
None involving me going out to sea, on a leaky boat, in the wet, rain, wind, and cold, wearing oil skins, a sou'wester, and Wellington boots, with a fishing rod and a net....

We actualy usualy have luck with tasmanian devils,my uncle was using flies while my Dad was using tasmanians,my dad caught more trout.
About salmon...
My uncle has the skill to throw the bait nearly ontop of a fish that just jumped but they still rarely bite.
I supose it all depends on the area and conditions.

Read it and weep Buddies!
For tonight’s delectation;
A fresh fillet of Bewl Water Trout served on a bed of lightly steamed Covo Negro ( Italian black cabbage) tossed in fried lard-ons of smoked bacon and onion with new potatoes and a sauce of home made watercress sauce.
The sad thing is, that because my “She who must be obeyed” will not eat fish of any description, I have only myself to impress.
Hey ho. More for me then.

Ahh.. Sward fish, stake cut and seasoned just so, rapped in some foil, then cooked up on the grill. Hands down the best fish I ever had in my life.

Try this.
Take your Sword fish steak, rub both sides with some oil and season well with sea salt. Then sprinkle with plenty of Chinese Szechuan pepper (ground) and quickly fry in a dry pan over highish heat. Don't over cook.
One of my favourites.

I love Salmon or Lake Trout on the BBQ!
Here is a quote from Samuel Clemmens on the subject of fish.
Mark Twain's answer to a would-be writer:
"Young Author"--Yes, Agassiz does recommend authors to eat fish, because the phosphorus in it makes brain. So far you are correct. But I cannot help you to a decision about the amount you need to eat--at least not with certainty. If the specimen composition you sent is about your fair usual average, I suggest that perhaps a couple of whales would be all you would want for the present. Not the largest kind, but simply good middling-sized whales.
Flying with twins is a lot of fun..
