Has anyone experienced this happening and if so any solutions.
I have FSX Acceleration running in Intel I5Duo Win8 .Have upgraded video card (GTX66TI ), RAM(16Gb) .
Had the same problem in Win7 before my new bits were added .thought I may have solved it but alas no.
It can happen anytime and does not seem to be dependent on workload of the CPU .
The actual msg is "Flight simulator has stopped working and needs to close ",then goes into the usual checking for a solution mode with no result. I close it and start again. There are no details shown as to the reason for the stop working .
Of course this always seems to happen during the good bits.
Help!!!!

That doesn't give us terribly much information. Can you open Event Viewer (assuming its available on Windows 8) and see what the application error was? In particular any faulty module.

There's something FSX dont like!?
Running programs, ram clearance....?

I've had the same problem with SH3 Grey WolfesX, and never figured out why! Now, theres no problem.

Not much help, i know, but as raptorva says, maybe a dump file or the event viewer could help.

Find this folder (FSX.CFG)

can be here if you are using windows 7 you will need to set up you hidden folder option to be unhide

Quote:
Default Windows 7 protect you from yourself setting. The whole Program files & Program files (x86) area is classed as read-only.

Right click on the FSX Root folder; click on properties & then un-tick the box read-only, now press apply. Now it shouldn’t say "access denied" when you try to add repaints or tweak CFG files

find the FSX.cfg here

C:\Users\<Your Name> \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

You will move this folder to your desktop ,and start FSX and allow FSX BUILD another folder , see if it still have the fail problem ,If it still doing it ,delete the new folder and put back the original FSX.cfg you placed in your desktop

This happens to me too. By all means try to fix it .....  but it happens with virtually every program I have in every device I have, at regular intervals. Technology fails. Of course there is a reason .. but if it only happens once in a while, you have to work out if finding a fix is worth the effort.

Thank you all for your comments .I have checked the reliability and it gives info as :faulting application path and gives Fault module name as : uiautomationcore.dll version 7.2.9200.16384
I have also done as suggested and unticked read only box in FSX root folder
